The final Marvel Cinematic Universe movie for 2025 has already become a success following its debut on streaming. For this year, the MCU timeline didn’t just finish its Phase 5 slate, but it also finally got to kick off the beginning of Phase 6, as Earth-616 gets closer to being changed forever.

After having been in development for several years, following the character rights reverting back to Marvel Studios, The Fantastic Four: First Steps finally brought the iconic heroes into the ever-growing Avengers franchise. However, to lean into The Multiverse Saga, the story took place on an alternative Earth, exploring the famous group outside the main continuity.

As The Fantastic Four: First Steps has finally become available to purchase through digital, the Phase 6 installment has already emerged as #1 through iTunes in the U.S. The movie is set to become available through home media as of Tuesday, October 14, on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD.

Directed by Matt Shakman, the 2025 entry stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, who are all set to return as part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast in 2026. The four leads will also reprise their roles in 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars, which is set to wrap up Phase 6.

What Fantastic Four’s Streaming Success Means

Following The Fantastic Four: First Step’s ending, it’s not a shock that the team-up film is already finding great success on streaming, with more audience members wanting to relive the Earth-828 story. It’s also possible that the public reception for Marvel’s First Family has increased with the general audience after this summer.

As it’s becoming clearer that the group will play a vital part in both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, that is bound to have people who didn’t catch the film in theaters more curious about the July installment. Following the film’s success as Marvel Studios’ most profitable film for 2025, it’s great to see Shakman’s reboot being explored in the world of streaming, which will ideally mean that a sequel will have a stronger trajectory. Their roles in the Avengers installments are also likely to increase the audience’s investment in them, as the heroes become active members of the MCU.

From all the Marvel references and Easter eggs in the movie, there is still a lot more to explore from their mythology, both during and after Phase 6. Hopefully, more details on their future after The Fantastic Four: First Steps will emerge sooner rather than later.
