Peaky Blinders series creator Steven Knight has teased a major update concerning the upcoming Netflix movie, The Immortal Man: A Peaky Blinders Film. Featuring the return of Cillian Murphy as Tommy Shelby, and directed by Tom Harper, The Immortal Man will depict the story of the next generation of the Shelby family in a post-World War II era.
While principal pH๏τography on The Immortal Man wrapped in December last year, it is still unclear when audiences might expect to see the next chapter in the Peaky Blinders saga arrive on screens.
Speaking with ScreenRant, Knight was asked about plans for the movie’s release, and while he did not provide a definitive date, he did confirm that an official announcement will happen “relatively soon.“ Knight also went on to hype up the show’s continuation, describing it as “really brilliant.” Check out Knight’s comment below:
There’ll be an announcement relatively soon, and I can tell you it’s really, really, really brilliant.
What Steven Knight’s Comment Means For The Immortal Man
Although an official release date for The Immortal Man has yet to be announced, it was reported earlier this monththat the Peaky Blinders movie may premiere at some point in 2026. While this potential timeframe may be disappointing for fans, these latest comments suggest that an official announcement is not too far away.
As for Knight’s confidence in the movie itself, his enthusiasm for the finished product will only serve to heighten anticipation for its eventual release. Given the overwhelmingly positive response to Peaky Blinders, the fandom already holds high hopes that The Immortal Man will live up to the legacy of the original TV show.
With Knight currently recognized as one of Britain’s most celebrated screenwriters and the man now tasked with helping Denis Villeneuve to usher in the next chapter in the James Bond franchise, his confidence in The Immortal Man speaks volumes.
Our Take On The Immortal Man’s Release Date Announcement
While a possible 2026 release for The Immortal Man appears to be a long delay, considering that filming wrapped late 2024, it is not unusual for Netflix to take its time in scheduling both release date announcements and actual movie debuts.
Using Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein as a guide, it took over 10 months after the movie wrapped filming in September 2024 to receive its official release date, and it will have been 13 months by the time it arrives on Netflix in November.
If The Immortal Man: A Peaky Blinders Film follows the same pattern, we could expect the official release date announcement in November this year, potentially aiming for a February 2026 streaming release. Of course, this is little more than speculation, and Netflix may still choose to surprise us all with an earlier release date for the new Peaky Blinders movie.
