William Shatner has provided an update on his health following recent hospitalization reports. Shatner, 94, is best known for his time playing Captain James T. Kirk on the original Star Trek TV series, as well as in six Star Trek movies. He is also a two-time Emmy-winner from his time on the legal drama Boston Legal.
On the evening of Wednesday, Sept. 24, TMZ reported that Shatner was taken to the hospital following a medical emergency. Shatner’s agent is quoted in the report saying that the actor experienced an issue with blood sugar.
Shatner shared an Instagram post on Thursday, Sept. 25, through his official account, clarifying the situation. While including a picture of him as Mark Twain from an episode of Murdoch Mysteries and the quote, “Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated!“, Shatner shared that he “over indulged.” He thanked his followers for showing their concern but said that he is fine. He added, “I keep telling you all: don’t trust tabloids or AI!“

William Shatner Remains Active In The Industry Despite Some Health Scares
Shatner has had a few health issues pop up over the years. He previously revealed that he was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma after finding a lump near his right ear, but it was successfully removed and treated. He also received a prostate cancer diagnosis in 2016, but that ended up being a false alarm. He does have tinnitus, caused by an explosion while filming Star Trek.
However, Shatner remains active in Hollywood. He is slated to star in the upcoming hockey comedy movie, Keepers of the Cup, from Jason Priestly; an upcoming Christmas-set movie, Family Tree; and has even teased that he may not be done playing Captain Kirk.
All of this is part of Shatner’s life philosophy, which he shared in his memoir, Live Long and…: What I Learned Along the Way, where he writes, “Simply keep living and try not to slow down.”
