LEGO’s new Arkham Asylum has recently been released, featuring all kinds of exciting comic book details and iconic DC characters from Batman’s allies and rogues’ gallery. Released on September 10th, the new model is currently on sale just in time for Batman Day.
Over the past few years, LEGO has annually released modular sets inspired by iconic Marvel buildings, including The Daily Bugle, Avengers Tower, Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum, and the X-Mansion. However, we finally have the first-ever LEGO DC Superheroes modular set with Arkham Asylum (76300). In celebration of Batman Day, here’s our full breakdown and review of LEGO’s new Arkham Asylum (76300).

Inspired by the iconic building located in Gotham City, Arkham Asylum has received the brick-built LEGO treatment in the past. However, none of the previous models have been as big or as detailed, having just under 3,000 pieces. With a price tag of $300, the price-to-piece is pretty good with a value of about $0.10 per piece (the average LEGO set is usually between $0.11–0.13 per piece).
Featuring two floors and a roof, the new Arkham Asylum model is an inverted corner with one half of the building dedicated to cells for the various supercriminals Batman puts away while on patrol, while the other half features a psychiatry office as well as a maximum security wing.
Likewise, some parts of the old building are more well-maintained than others, with holes in the walls and broken parts of the gate, perfect for Batman’s rogues gallery to escape and wreak havoc on Gotham City once more.
As a modular building, LEGO’s new Arkham Asylum can be displayed and attached to any collector’s other LEGO City or Marvel Superheroes sets. Personally, I’m looking forward to my own personal Marvel/DC crossover, as I’ll be displaying this new model right next to last year’s LEGO X-Mansion.
In total, Arkham Asylum (76300) comes with 16 minifigures. Naturally, Batman is included (with an impressive long black cape, as is Damian Wayne’s Robin and Batwoman (both of whom have dual-color capes). Arkham Asylum also comes with the first-ever minifigure for Luke Fox’s Batwing.
Beyond two Arkham security guards, the rest of the minifig lineup is dedicated to Batman’s rogue gallery, featuring Joker, Harley Quinn, Penguin, Scarecrow, Mister Freeze, Bane, Poison Ivy, Catwoman, Riddler, and Killer Croc.
Aside from Freeze, Riddler, Ivy and Catwoman, the rest of the villains are wearing orange jumpsuits with “Arkham Asylum” printed on the back torso. While it might have been nice to have full costumes for each figure and then a handful of jumpsuits for greater customization options, I’m pretty happy overall with the balance that was struck.
Our Favorite Features & Batman Easter Eggs From LEGO’s New Arkham Asylum
The best thing about each of LEGO’s modular superhero sets is all the details, references, and Easter eggs, and the brand-new Arkham Asylum is no exception.
Each room and level is full of great details, and a fun narrative quickly becomes clear with every bag built. Although he might not have been included as a minifigure, various monitors and elements confirm Clayface was recently in custody but escaped through a drain and out a broken gate.
Similarly, Two-Face’s coin can be found, as well as Harvey Dent campaign posters on the backside of the Asylum’s removable cell panels to show the incarcerated inmates within. Additionally, the cell doors can be slid open at once on each level, allowing for a mᴀss breakout at any moment with pull features hidden using the outdoor electrical box and dumpster.
We also see a framed pH๏τo of the asylum’s founder in the comics, Amadeus Arkham, as well as some before-and-after pH๏τos near the office of Doctor Harleen Quinzel: Employee of the Month (ironically right next to Harley Quinn: Most Wanted).
Hugo Strange’s doctorate is also featured on the wall, amid so many other great references and details, like ketchup and mustard in the attic for Condiment King, vines and plants all over Ivy’s cell, and Joker graffiti on the main statue and various posters all over the building.
There’s also a tourism poster on the backside of Arkham Asylum promoting Superman’s city of Metropolis and The Daily Planet (which one can only hope might become a future DC modular set).
However, my absolute favorite Easter has to be inside the aforementioned yellow dumpster. Just like the yellow dumpsters outside the Marvel modulars (Doctor Strange’s Sanctum had Infinity Stones), Arkham’s dumpster features two major Batman Easter eggs.
The first is a collection of gold, blue, and purple studs, a reference to the studs collected in LEGO video games like the Batman games of the past (and the upcoming Legacy of The Dark Knight, releasing next year. However, even better is a LEGO recreation of 1941’s Batman #9 that’s also inside the dumpster with its iconic comic cover featuring Batman and Robin.
The Verdict? LEGO’s New Arkham Asylum Is The Perfect Batman Day Gift
As a major Batman fan, I have to admit to some clear bias here. That being said, I’m also a big LEGO fan in general, and I really do think that this is a great addition to LEGO’s ever-expanding line of modular Superheroes models.
While it is perhaps a little too compact for some builders’ liking, the level of detail packed into the two-story building is quite impressive all the same. It also has a fairly good height, on par with sets like the LEGO Marvel X-Mansion or the Sanctum.
For any major Batman fans in your life, the new Arkham Asylum (76300) set is definitely a must-have model that looks incredibly good on the shelf, featuring nearly everything you could want in an Arkham Asylum modular set.
That said, LEGO is also currently offering double Insider points on almost all of its current Batman sets in celebration of the “holiday”, so it might be worth taking a look before Batman Day ends!
