The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Disney+ Release Just Got A Major MCU Update

The Fantastic Four: First Steps gets closer to being released on Disney+ after the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s latest update. All the MCU’s 2025 movies have now been released in theaters. The MCU Fantastic Four cast led the team’s reboot movie to become the highest-grossing Marvel film of the year. At the time of writing, it sits at $519 million worldwide.

While that is not quite as high as the biggest MCU movies, it is easily the highest-grossing entry in the live-action Fantastic Four movie franchise. Still, the fact that the film underperformed means many MCU fans did not watch it in theaters. Those waiting to catch the MCU’s Fantastic Four for the first time on Disney+ are now closer to doing so.

To start, it is important to note that anyone who wants to watch The Fantastic Four: First Steps at home will be able to do so this month. While the MCU movie still has to be released on Disney+, Marvel has already revealed that the film will be available on digital soon. The Fantastic Four: First Steps comes to VOD on September 23.

That means anyone willing to purchase or rent the movie in the usual digital stores will be able to do so in the next week. For the Marvel fans who prefer waiting for physical media, The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on October 14. After the movie’s digital update, its Disney+ release becomes clearer.

The MCU’s 2025 Movies Help Predict The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Disney+ Release Date

Taking the MCU’s other two movies released in 2025, Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts*, we are able to predict when The Fantastic Four: First Steps might come to Disney+. Anthony Mackie’s first Captain America movie as the lead was available on digital on April 15. Its Disney+ release happened on May 28.

Based on Captain America: Brave New World‘s digital release date, the movie was available to stream on Disney+ 43 days later. By taking that into account and applying the same range to The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Marvel’s First Family could be debuting on the streamer on November 5. Thunderbolts*‘s formula would provide a different potential release date.

The New Avengers saw their film come to VOD on July 1. Thunderbolts* later came to Disney+ on August 27, exactly 57 days after it was first available at home on digital. The MCU Fantastic Four movie would then arrive on Disney+ on November 19.

Interestingly, if we took the theatrical-to-streaming pipelines for the MCU’s first two 2025 movies and applied them to the Fantastic Four film, the projected release dates on Disney+ for the movie would be the same as those based on their VOD releases. As such, The Fantastic Four: First Steps being released on Disney+ in November makes the most sense.
