Jason Statham has a new look hinting that The Beekeeper 2 is about to start filming. The action movie that starred Statham as a retired, but highly-skilled, special operative who gets back into the game to avenge his scammed neighbor was a global hit, earning $162 million at the box office.

The Beekeeper 2 was officially announced in February 2025, with Statham returning to his role as Adam Clay. Jeremy Irons also returns as former CIA Director Wallace Westwyld. No other casting news has been announced for the movie. A fall 2025 production in London has been reported for the Timo Tjahjanto-directed movie, with eyes toward a 2026 release date.

Production may be ramping up quite soon, going off of Statham’s appearance at the Canelo Alvarez and Terrence Crawford fight on September 13. Statham was interviewed on the red carpet for the fight sporting a beard that looks just like the one he had in the original movie. Take a look right here:

What This Means For The Beekeep 2

No official release date has been set for the movie, but should The Beekeeper 2 officially begin production this fall, as all signs are pointing to, then the action movie could be eyeing a summer 2026 release date.

That makes sense considering the original movie’s strong box office performance. As a January 2024 release, The Beekeeper was the top movie at the US box office in its opening week. It would stay in the top five at the box office for five weeks.

The Beekeeper is one of Statham’s most successful movies at the box office in the last 10 years, behind the Fast & Furious franchise, The Meg movies, and Spy. With a more prominent release date, and a clear fandom based on The Beekeeper‘s 92% score on Rotten Tomatoes’ Popcornmeter, The Beekeper 2 could be another box office hit.

Though if it does land a summer 2026 release date, when in the summer could impact its box office potential. Mortal Kombat II, The Mandalorian and Grogu, Toy Story 5, Supergirl, The Odyssey, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day will loom heavy over the summer slate.

Statham is a good, old-fashioned action star, and The Beekeeper helped prove that he could still carry a movie without fast cars or giant sharks to being a box office success.

Yet summer 2026 offers some stiff compeтιтion, at least through July. Maybe a late summer, August release date could be an opportune window. Or perhaps Amazon MGM Studios holds it for a less crowded part of the release calendar. Time will tell as news on The Beekeeper 2 could start coming fast.
