Insidious 6 is bringing a character back from the ᴅᴇᴀᴅ, as well as announcing a new addition to the cast of the horror franchise. After five movies over the course of 13 years, 2023’s Insidious: The Red Door was going to end of the franchise, but strong box office means Insidious is back for another go.
Per ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, Insidious regular Lin Shaye will once again reprise her role of Elise Rainier in Insidious 6, as her character has been a central figure in the franchise, despite the fact that she died in the first movie. A new addition to the franchise was also announced, with Amelia Eve joining Insidious 6 as part of the cast.
Plot details for Insidious 6 are currently under wraps, but we know that the Blumhouse horror movie begins production next week as it eyes an August 21, 2026, release date. Jacob Chase directs from a script he co-wrote with David Leslie Johnson.
What This Means For Insidious 6
We don’t know where Insidious 6‘s story will go with a new director and writers behind the camera, but Shaye represents a key piece of continuity. It’s unclear at this time if Shaye will be joined by Insidious‘ other long-running star, Patrick Wilson; he’s been one of horror’s biggest stars, as evidenced by The Conjuring: Last Rites‘ recent box office success.
At the very least, Eve is an intriguing addition to the cast, one with plenty of horror experience herself. Most notably, she was one of the stars of the Netflix original The Haunting of Bly Manor.
Our Take On The Insidious 6 Casting News
Shaye’s return lends further support to the belief that Insidious 6 is going to be a continuation of the main storyline from the previous five movies, and possibly be the conclusion for that arc (though we thought that before with Insidious: The Red Door).
If you want to catch up with where things left off with Insidious: The Red Door, the movie is currently streaming on Hulu.
An Insidious spinoff is also in the works, Thread: An Insidious Tale, though again details on that are sparse.
In any event, the Insidious franchise is set to continue with Insidious 6, and many fans will likely be very happy to know it will do so with Shaye on board. That should lead to it being another anticipated entry to the summer 2026 movie release schedule.
