Fan-Favorite Star Returning For Daniel Craig’s Next Murder Mystery Is The Best Case Scenario

Wake Up ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Man is the third movie in Rian Johnson’s acclaimed murder mystery franchise, bringing back Knives Out protagonist Benoit Blanc for another case of suspicion and intrigue. The much-anticipated sequel unites another talented ensemble of familiar faces, including Josh O’Connor, Jeremy Renner, and Glenn Close.

Speaking with Variety recently, Wake Up ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Man‘s lead actor Daniel Craig confessed that he’d like to see Jamie Lee Curtis return for a potential sequel. The actress portrayed Linda Drysdale in the first movie. The idea of bringing back an old cast member for the first time certainly sounds interesting — but there’s another actor who would be a much better choice than Curtis.

Ana De Armas Would Be A Better Fit For Knives Out 4

If Knives Out 4 is going to bring a character back from the series’ past, Ana De Armas’ Marta is the perfect choice. She was one of the first movie’s main characters — initially one of Benoit’s leading suspects, but ultimately the one who helped him crack the case.

The playful dynamic between Benoit and Marta is one of Knives Out‘s biggest strengths, and it’s something that was clearly missing from Glᴀss Onion. While the second movie did a good job of expanding the ensemble even further, with even more recognizable names in the case, it lacked the friendly warmth that characters like Marta brought to the original.

Of course, it also helps that Marta is one of the only likable characters in Knives Out. The ensemble is intentionally filled with flawed, selfish characters, and this leaves the audience rooting for Marta throughout the movie. Bringing her back would be such a rewarding moment for those fans who’ve been around since the beginning.

Logistically, it would also make sense for Benoit to recruit Marta again in the future. She was a mᴀssive help to him in Knives Out‘s ending, and the two characters parted on friendly terms after Ransom’s arrest. She also inherited the entire estate after she was proven innocent, so she’s probably got plenty of time on her hands.

Still, bringing any Knives Out character back for the fourth movie would have to be handled carefully. Rian Johnson has clearly succeeded at making this a true anthology series, with very few connections between each installment. Even stylistically, they’re all very different. Knives Out 4 should respect this tradition, but there’s still room for Marta to have a minor role.
