Three more stars have joined The Last Mrs. Parrish. The upcoming movie, which is an adaptation of the 2017 novel of the same name by sisters Lynne and Valerie Constantine (writing as Liv Constantine), will be directed by Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future) from a screenplay by Andrea Berloff (The Mother) and John Gatins (Flight).
The popular novel, which is a Reese’s Book Club Pick, has already cast Atlas star and recording artist Jennifer Lopez as the wealthy Daphne Parrish, who has a seemingly perfect life with her husband Jackson. When the down-on-her-luck Amber Patterson insinuates her way into Daphne’s, hoping to seduce Jackson, she ends up getting more than she bargained for.
Per Variety, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has joined the cast of The Last Mrs. Parrish as Jackson Parrish. Also joining the cast are Isabel May as Amber Patterson and Pierson Fodé in an as-yet unknown role.
Because the majority of the important supporting characters in the novel are women, it remains unclear who Pierson Fodé (who had his breakout role in Netflix’s The Man from Toronto, appearing opposite Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson) will be playing. However, because he has joined the cast so early, it seems likely that his character will have a weighty role.
What This Means For The Last Mrs. Parrish
So far, the stars that have joined the cast of the Jennifer Lopez movie are very promising. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s performance as Jaime Lannister in all eight seasons of the HBO fantasy hit Game of Thrones has proven that he has the range required to play the complicated character at the center of Amber’s scheme.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is a Danish actor who has been nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards for his performance in Game of Thrones.
Isabel May has also proven herself to be a major up-and-coming star. In addition to playing Elsa Dutton in the Yellowstone prequel 1923, she is set to portray the daughter of Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) in the upcoming Scream 7, a role which will likely have risen her star even higher by the time The Last Mrs. Parrish debuts.
Our Take On The Last Mrs. Parrish Casting Announcement
So far, the Robert Zemeckis movie has gathered a cast that skillfully combines well-known veterans with up-and-comers. If the remainder of the ensemble comes together just as nicely, The Last Mrs. Parrish could be set to become a solid hit in the vein of similar thrillers such as Gone Girl and A Simple Favor.
2014’s Gone Girl grossed $370.9 million against its reported $61 million budget, while 2018’s A Simple Favor grossed $97.6 million against $20 million, earning a sequel in the process.
Should it indeed become a hit, The Last Mrs. Parrish is already primed to potentially launch a new film franchise, as the original novel has already received a 2024 sequel тιтled The Next Mrs. Parrish, which is also ripe for an adaptation.
