Bruce Campbell Reveals His Involvement For The Next Two Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Movies

Bruce Campbell unveils how involved he will be in the forthcoming Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ movies. Campbell was one of the original stars of The Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ movies, which originated back in 1981. Following a group of friends who accidentally release demons, the movie would go on to become an iconic B-horror film.

Campbell would go on to appear in the direct sequels Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ II and Army of Darkness. While the franchise took a hiatus for a couple of decades, it fittingly rose from the ᴅᴇᴀᴅ with a 2013 reboot and 2023’s Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Rise.

As per The Horror Zine, Campbell comments on whether he will appear in the next Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ movies. The actor pointed out that he wasvery involved” in the 2013 reboot as well as Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Rise, but currently has some scheduling conflicts:

Bruce Campbell: I was very involved in 2013 and Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Rise. Currently, I’m on a multi-year odyssey to complete and sell my next flick Ernie & Emma around the world, so I won’t be as involved in the next two that come down the pike.

What This Means For The Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Movies

While he is not the main character in either modern Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ film, Campbell enjoyed influence on both movies as a producer. As such, he contributed to the films’ creative vision, which is important in maintaining the quality of the Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ movies for a new generation of fans.

Last year, it was announced that two new Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ movies are officially in development. One of these films is a spinoff movie called Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Burn. While the plot is still being kept under wraps, the movie’s cast includes Hunter Doohan, Luciane Buchanan, Souheila Yacoub, Maude Davey, and Tandi Wright.

With a brand new set of characters, Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Burn will have to forge ahead with little mention of Ash and his past within the franchise. There are fewer details known about the other upcoming Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ movie, but the recent Campbell quote does confirm that the former franchise star’s involvement will be kept fairly minimal.

Our Take On Campbell’s Absence From The Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Franchise

This news could leave Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ fans with an extant sense of unfulfillment with Campbell’s arc in the franchise. In addition to the two 21st-century Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ movies, there was a TV series called Ash vs Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ, which saw Campbell return to his beloved character.

However, this show was abruptly canceled, leaving Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ-hungry audiences without more Ash storyline to follow. Unfortunately, the Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ franchise will seemingly continue to leave this former lead out of things as it forges ahead without Campbell’s direct and involved influence.
