Why Chris Evans’ New Superhero Physique Has Marvel Fans Convinced He’s In Avengers: Doomsday

Chris Evans could be back in Avengers: Doomsday, or at least that is what has been speculated after the actor debuted a new superhero physique recently. Alongside Robert Downey Jr., Evans is one of the faces of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Together, the actors have led many of Marvel Studios’ biggest movies. As such, Evans’ absence in Avengers: Doomsday is surprising.

The actor was not one of the names revealed for Avengers: Doomsday‘s cast when Marvel revealed several chairs for the film’s stars during a live-stream. That said, Marvel’s Kevin Feige later confirmed that more MCU actors would be part of the film, even though they had not been announced. Now, Evans’ possible involvement with Avengers: Doomsday‘s story has gotten a new chapter.

While Evans returned to the MCU in 2024, he did so as a version of Johnny Storm in ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine. Given that the actor played the Human Torch in two Fantastic Four movies before joining the Marvel franchise, it would make sense if Evans’ Marvel return had nothing to do with Steve Rogers coming back. However, a new development teases just that.

Evans might not have been part of Avengers: Doomsday‘s cast reveal, but the actor is rumored to have been shooting scenes with Hayley Atwell, bringing back the Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter couple, and more actors for Avengers: Doomsday over the past month. Now, Evans has debuted an impressive superhero physique. X user @stateofcevans shared a side-by-side that shows Evans’ physical transformation.

While the actor is always fit, Evans has notably appeared with a more toned physique over the years when he was playing Captain America. As the tweet shows, Evans clearly put on more muscle from January to September, looking more like Captain America now. Additionally, he shaved his beard, which the actor only really ever did for Knives Out in the past few years.

To exemplify, in a 2022 interview with Etalk, Chris Evans admitted that he hates shaving, saying, “Just shaving every day, it is such a pain.” As such, Evans rarely sports a beardless look unless it is for a role. With the actor appearing clean-shaven recently and showcasing the superhero physique made famous as the MCU’s Captain America, Avengers: Doomsday rumors have intensified.

At this time, there is no official confirmation that Chris Evans will appear in Avengers: Doomsday as Captain America or another character. Speaking to ScreenRant, Evans addressed missing out on the Avengers movie. According to the Steve Rogers actor, it will be hard when Avengers: Doomsday comes out, and he feels like he wasn’t “invited to the party.”

That said, Chris Evans will reportedly be in Avengers: Doomsday. Multiple reports have claimed the actor will appear as Captain America alongside Hayley Atwell’s Agent Carter. The two characters were last seen together in Avengers: Endgame, so the two coming back would make sense. Months after the MCU reports, Evans’ physical transformation now boosts his Avengers: Doomsday Captain America return chances.
