New Action Movie With 89% Audience Score On Rotten Tomatoes Is Huge For Blockbuster Star

While action movies have always been a staple of Hollywood blockbusters, an influx of excellent new additions to the genre have arrived in the last few years, and Nobody 2 is continuing that trend. The first film was a modest success when it released in 2021, and the second movie is doing its best to capitalize on that hit.

The first Nobody was made on a budget of around $16 million, and earned a worldwide box office total of $57 million, which, while not huge, is a moderate hit for certain. Nobody 2 cost $25 million, and so far, it has only made around $37 million after almost a month in theaters.

However, one of the saving graces of the franchise is the fact that the people who have seen it love the film, and Nobody 2‘s critical reviews have also been solid. While Nobody 2 might not be a huge hit, the appreciation for it is a good sign for any potential sequel.

This could benefit Bob Odenkirk in the future should a third Nobody movie happen, but there’s another action star who is a more immediate winner. Despite not being in Nobody 2 at all, Jason Statham will thrive next.

Nobody 2 was directed by Timo Tjahjanto, a relative newcomer to the scene, who also happens to be directing Jason Statham’s The Beekeeper 2. Statham has been on a roll recently, with the first Beekeeper doing extremely well, both critically and commercially, and his more recent A Working Man doing solidly, though not quite as well.

The Beekeeper was made on a budget of $40 million, which was a bit high for this kind of movie, but it managed to earn an exceptional $162 million worldwide. On top of that, the film was a huge streaming success, making it easily one of Statham’s most profitable projects in recent years.

A Working Man also had a budget of $40 million, and earned a total of $98 million during its time in theaters.

A sequel to Nobody was always an exciting prospect, considering how good the first film was, and the action was extremely well-done throughout Nobody 2‘s ending. That inspires a lot of confidence in what Tjahjanto will deliver when he collaborates with Statham in The Beekeeper 2.

The biggest success of The Beekeeper was the fact that it was able to tell a simple story pretty effectively, giving room for Statham to shine as the action star. The movie was directed by David Ayer, who also did A Working Man, making it disappointing when the news broke that he wouldn’t be returning for the sequel.

With Nobody 2, Tjahjanto has proven that he is a more than capable action director and will likely be able to take the Beekeeper series to even greater heights. By combining his directorial skill with Jason Statham’s box office draw, The Beekeeper 2 is in a great position to become an even bigger hit than the first.
