Zombie Movie Fans Must Watch Netflix’s Hidden Gem With 83% Rotten Tomatoes Score This Weekend

Zombie movies will never entirely go out of style, and this hidden gem on Netflix is one of the strongest entries in the genre in recent years. The best zombie movies of all time have done a great job balancing horror against a unique backdrop, with many of these examining the breakdown of society and culture during a horrific takeover.

Zombie movies have been important entries in the cultural canon. There have been several important ones since Night of the LIving ᴅᴇᴀᴅ that have become cultural touchstones of their own. From the dark thrills of World War Z to the inspired comedy of The ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Don’t Die, the genre has continued to evolve over the years.

After the ending of 28 Years Later, audiences are excited about zombies once again. The genre is a perennial favorite that always seems to find new ways to update its themes to fit in with an evolving culture. With a sequel to 28 Years Later still months away, this new Netflix movie is the perfect watch in the meanwhile.

Netflix’s Ziam Is Perfect For Zombie Movie Fans

Ziam is a thrilling new Thai zombie horror movie that debuted on Netflix earlier this summer. While the film was a success upon release, topping the streamer’s global charts, the Netflix algorithm has since dropped the movie in order to make way for new content. Anyone who missed Ziam upon release desperately needs to check it out now.

Directed and co-written by Kulp Kaljareuk, the new film sees the amᴀssing of an army of zombies in a dystopian future. Against this horde, Singh, a former Muay Thai fighter, fights to escape in order to a build a new life with his girlfriend, Rin.

The movie’s premise is familiar, but the execution is what sets Ziam apart. Not wanting to rely on CGI, the zombies are entirely made up from makeup, and the fight scenes are strongly choreographed with an intensive understanding of Muay Thai techniques. Star Prin Suparat is an experienced fighter, and his moves in the film make for some strong visuals.

For centuries, Thailand was known as Siam, and the тιтle of the film changes its first letter as a reference to zombies. This is a common naming convention that was seen with films like the aforementioned World War Z and zombie shows like Z Nation, slotting the new film well in this practiced tradition.

Ziam is not the most original film on Netflix, but it is a strong entry in the zombie genre. With a great star, strong direction, and great attention to detail in the direction, there is much for zombie fans to enjoy in this new movie.
