Andrew Garfield’s New Medieval War Movie Adds A Familiar Harry Potter Face

A Harry Potter franchise actor has joined Andrew Garfield to star in his upcoming unтιтled war movie directed by Paul Greengrᴀss. The medieval pic, set in a war-ridden England in the late 14th century, stars the Amazing Spider-Man actor as a legendary leader of a rebellious force to fight for justice and survival against King Richard II’s tyranny.

After much negotiation, Garfield has officially closed the deal to star in the upcoming war pic. He’s joined by the Fantastic Beasts star Katherine Waterston in the cast in an unspecific role. The movie is set to be distributed by Focus Features, with Jason Blum producing through Blumhouse, alongside Greg Goodman, Joanna Kaye, and Greengrᴀss. Filming is expected to begin in fall.

Waterston joined the Fantastic Beasts series in 2015. She is most known for portraying Porpentina “Tina” Goldstein, a half-blood witch and the deuteragonist. The actor can recently be seen in Paramount+’s spy series The Agency where she played Michael Fᴀssbender’s CIA handler Naomi opposite Jeffrey Wright and Richard Gere.

The actor can next be seen in Jim O’Hanlon’s British period comedy Fackham Hall as Lady Davenport alongside original Harry Potter star Tom Felton, Damian Lewis, and Ben Radcliffe. She has also signed on to play Simon Pegg’s Angels in the Asylum, which started principal pH๏τography in January but was halted in February due to a funding crisis.

Meanwhile, Garfield has a new psychological thriller from Luca Guadagnino coming out on October 10 and several upcoming projects in various stages of development, including a Guadagnino movie about artificial intelligence, in which he’ll star opposite Jason Schwartzman, Cooper Hoffman, and Zosia Mamet.

With filming for the unтιтled Paul Greengrᴀss project scheduled to begin in fall, the movie will likely go into production very soon. This also means more solid news about plot details, casting, and release window could be revealed soon. Waterston and Garfield’s joining suggests a stellar cast ᴀssembling.

The unтιтled project will come after the director’s survival pic, The Lost Bus, an Apple Original film starring Matthew McConaughey and America Ferrera, currently playing in theaters. The movie will come to Apple TV+ streaming platform in October. This does seem to suggest a potentially тιԍнт filming window, especially with both Garfield and Greengrᴀss each having to promote a new pic this fall.
