The Bone Temple’s Trailer Reveals Unexpected Twist After 28 Years Later’s Most Controversial Scene

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is already fixing a controversial aspect of the previous movie thanks to a big change. At the end of 28 Years Later, Spike decides to remain on the mainland and survive on his own after the death of his mother. However, it’s not long before he encounters Jimmy Crystal and his group.

The introduction of Jack O’Connell’s Jimmy and his cult-like group at the end of the first film is shocking, since their eccentric appearance and personalities don’t really fit in with the rest of the movie. Jimmy and all the members of his group dress up like Jimmy Savile, a British media personality and DJ who was exposed as a Sєxual predator following his death.

Even though they save Spike from the infected at the end of the first film, this detail makes their introduction utterly terrifying. As is teased in the trailer for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, Jimmy and his group will be major villains in the sequel. However, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’s trailer also hints at an unexpected twist involving Jimmy and his group.

28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’s Trailer Suggests That Jimmy’s Group Aren’t All Bad

Based on the trailer for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, it’s obvious that O’Connell’s character will be the main villain in the sequel. Jimmy Crystal and his followers can be seen seemingly torturing a group of survivors in a barn, and later the “Jimmies” are outside the barn as it is on fire, suggesting that they may have burned these people alive.

With them also terrorizing Dr. Kelson’s Bone Temple, it’s easy to view them all as bad at first glance and worry about their influence on Spike as he joins them. However, several moments suggest that not all the members of Jimmy’s group will be villains.

It looks like Erin Kellyman’s character, in particular, could be more heroic in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple. There are suggestions in the trailer that she could not agree with Jimmy’s way of doing things and ultimately stray from the cult.

Kellyman’s character can be seen on her own many times in The Bone Temple‘s trailer. She is seen curiously watching Dr. Kelson and killing an infected with a disappointed expression on her face. This sets up the possibility that she’ll betray Jimmy and align with Dr. Kelson in the sequel.

If there is turmoil within Jimmy’s group and Kellyman’s character betrays them, then she could also help free Spike from the cult’s crutches. Jimmy Ink could actually end up being one of the most heroic characters in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, which is a surprising twist for a member of Jimmy’s gang based on expectations.

The inclusion of the Jimmies at the end of 28 Years Later has proven to be divisive. Some fans are on board with their inclusion and excited to see what they will add to the trilogy, while others are wary of them. The latter concern is alleviated thanks to Kellyman’s character and her potential arc.

The sequel easily could have had every member of Jimmy’s group be completely loyal to him. If this were the case, then Spike truly would have been all on his own and would have had to figure out a way to escape from Jimmy’s grasp. However, it’s more interesting for there to be conflict within Jimmy’s cult.

Spike will obviously question Jimmy’s methods and leadership in The Bone Temple, but it’s a relief that other characters will also do so. If she does end up disobeying Jimmy, then Kellyman’s Jimmy Ink could quickly become much more important in the 28 Years Later trilogy.

Her potential betrayal and rebellion also sets the stage for further conflict in the final movie in the 28 Years Later trilogy. Kellyman’s character could potentially team up with Dr. Kelson, Spike, Jamie, and, potentially, even Cillian Murphy’s Jim to take down Jimmy and his other followers. That makes Kellyman’s role in 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple incredibly intriguing.
