Pierce Brosnan’s New Netflix Murder Mystery With 77% RT Becomes Instant Global Hit

A new Netflix murder mystery movie starring Pierce Brosnan is a global streaming hit. Brosnan is widely known for starring in four James Bond movies, including GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day.

There are also many great Pierce Brosnan movies that aren’t James Bond. He played the тιтular character in The Thomas Crown Affair, the boyfriend of Sally Field’s Miranda Hillard in Mrs. Doubtfire, and a former British Prime Minister in the 2010 political thriller The Ghost Writer.

More recently, Brosnan starred in the Paramount+ crime drama series MobLand and in Steven Soderbergh’s spy thriller film Black Bag. His recent credits now include a Netflix murder mystery movie as well, which is quickly proving to be a hit for subscribers.

The Thursday Murder Club Dominates Netflix’s Streaming Charts

The Thursday Murder Club is a global streaming hit on Netflix. The murder mystery film came to Netflix on August 28 and features a star-studded cast that also includes Ben Kingsley, Helen Mirren, Celia Imrie, Naomi Ackie, David Tennant, Tom Ellis, Jonathan Pryce, and Richard E. Grant.

Reviews for The Thursday Murder Club have been solid, leading to a 77% Tomatometer score. Brosnan, Kingsley, Mirren, and Imrie have received praise for their performances as four older adults who work together to solve a murder.

According to Netflix, The Thursday Murder Club is the second most-watched English-language movie on the streaming platform this week with 24.7 million views. It also has the top viewership in 31 countries and in the top 10 of 91 countries, including the United States, Canada, Argentina, and Brazil.

The only movie ahead of The Thursday Murder Club is KPop Demon Hunters, which recently became the most-watched movie in Netflix history, and added 30.1 million views after being in the top 10 for the eleventh consecutive week.

Despite a 55% Popcornmeter score and changes from The Thursday Murder Club book, there is already extensive viewership in the movie’s first week on Netflix. After such a strong start, it is likely to continue performing well, especially as word of mouth spreads about the film’s charm and strong performances.

With Only Murders in the Building season 5 debuting on September 9, The Thursday Murder Club will soon be competing with a show that has a somewhat similar premise and tone. However, Only Murders in the Building will be on a different streaming platform, and the Brosnan-led film should continue to thrive on Netflix for now.
