New Movie In $2.2 Billion Horror Franchise Is Here, But When Can You Watch It On Streaming?

The Conjuring: Last Rites is coming to cinemas this week, and it will not be long before the new film is available on streaming. Billed as the final chapter in the Conjuring series, the latest installment is directed by franchise veteran Michael Chaves and sees Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return as paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.

While not every movie in the Conjuring universe has been excellent, the vast majority of them have. Beginning with a loose adaptation of the real-life story of the Warrens, the series quickly spun off into multiple Annabelle and The Nun movies. This expansion helped to make the horror franchise’s cinematic universe feel like one of the most vital.

There is incredible box office pressure for Last Rites to end the series on a high note for Warner Bros., following a very strong year. With this in mind, the film is certainly worth seeing in theatres, but the home media release will follow not long after. Some details about this plan are already available.

The Conjuring: Last Rites Releases In Theaters On September 5, 2025

The Conjuring: Last Rites is coming to theatres this week from Warner Bros. Pictures in a wide release. Following the example set by the first two installments, the new film will open everywhere, and it will play as a theatrical exclusive beginning on Friday, September 5th.

The previous chapter in the series, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It debuted in 2021 on HBO Max simultaneously with the theatrical release. That strategy will not be replicated here, and the film will receive a full theatrical run before making its way to digital and streaming.

When Will The Conjuring: Last Rites Release On Streaming?

The Conjuring: Last Rites will be available streaming on HBO Max in only a short time. While the film does not yet have a confirmed release date for the service, several details from the franchise’s previous releases help indicate when the latest chapter could arrive on the service.

Streaming The Conjuring movies has had an interesting journey in recent years. Notably, the simultaneous release strategy for the last installment on HBO Max will not be replicated here. However, the pattern used for The Nun 2 in 2023 seems to be a likely model for this new chapter.

Following a September release in theatres, The Nun 2 was released on HBO Max on October 27, 2023. While a November release for Last Rites would follow HBO Max’s usual pattern of about three months from theatrical to streaming, a special streaming debut in time for Halloween, on October 24 or 31, is the likely plan for the final Conjuring.

The Nun 2 was released on digital HD on October 3, 2023, less than a month after the film debuted in theaters. Depending on how the new movie performs, a digital release in this same period will surely be the result for Last Rites, with October 7 being the most likely option.

Notably, digital release dates for movies like this have been in flux recently. Warner Bros. released Sinners on April 18th, and it was available on digital platforms a month and a half later, on June 3rd. Depending on box office performance, the digital and streaming dates for The Conjuring: Last Rites could be pushed back by a few weeks.
