Recent chatter online has surrounded a potential trailer for Avengers: Doomsday; here is the entire situation explained. Avengers: Doomsday‘s story is undoubtedly the biggest the MCU has told since Avengers: Endgame. Not only will it serve as somewhat of an ending to the MCU timeline as we know it, but it has a scale unlike any other MCU project.
Avengers: Doomsday‘s cast list is the biggest in the MCU’s history, featuring heroes from teams like The Avengers, The New Avengers, The Fantastic Four, and the X-Men. The upcoming Marvel movie currently has a release date of December 18, 2026, with recent online speculation surrounding a rumored trailer for Avengers: Doomsday.
Avengers: Doomsday’s D23 Trailer Rumors Explained
These rumors began because of Destination D23, an event at Walt Disney World Resort on the weekend of August 29–August 31, 2025. Here, several teasers about Disney’s various projects of the next few years were highlighted, including Avengers: Doomsday.
As is going to be the case with anticipated movies like Avengers: Doomsday, there were several leaks of a sizzle reel that was shown to those in attendance at D23. Naturally, the internet did what the internet does, with speculation and rumors catching like wildfire that an actual trailer for Avengers: Doomsday had been leaked.
As reported initially by The Direct, though, what was shown at Destination D23 was not an official trailer. Instead, the Russo Brothers and Paul Rudd appeared in a short video message before a reel of clips featuring Avengers: Doomsday‘s cast from previous Marvel movies was shown.
This adequately raised excitement for Avengers: Doomsday by highlighting the intergenerational, interdimensional team that the film will bring together against Doctor Doom. However, no real trailer with new footage from Avengers: Doomsday was shown, despite the heavy rumors claiming otherwise online.
Why Avengers: Doomsday Hasn’t Had A Trailer Yet
Naturally, this raises the question of why Avengers: Doomsday has not had an official trailer as of yet. The reason for this is fairly simple: the film is still deep in production. Avengers: Doomsday began filming in April 2025 and is expected to last until October of that year, at the earliest.
The Russo Brothers even admitted in the aforementioned video message that the project is undoubtedly the biggest they have ever taken on. Therefore, most of the footage already sH๏τ for Avengers: Doomsday will be fairly raw with little post-production work, if any, conducted; any trailer for the MCU movie will still be a ways off.
Another reason for this is the planned July 2026 release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Marvel Studios will likely want to focus more on the marketing for that movie without taking attention away from it with trailers for Avengers: Doomsday.
This is not to say a Doomsday teaser trailer could not be released before Spider-Man 4 is released, but it will likely be a while before that happens. As a result, it makes a lot of sense that there has been no trailer for Avengers: Doomsday just yet. As we move further into 2026, though, audiences should expect the film to begin its marketing push.
