The DC Universe has finally set up one of the first projects James Gunn announced. Several of the upcoming DC movies in development were announced in January 2023, when Gunn first addressed the future of the DC Universe. The likes of Supergirl and Clayface are two such projects and will serve as the main DC movies of 2026.
Where TV shows are concerned, Peacemaker season 2’s story marks the next step in the DCU’s small-screen slate after Creature Commandos. Beyond these two projects, more TV shows are expected to be released by DC Studios in the coming years. Via an Easter egg in Peacemaker season 2, episode 2, one of these early-announced TV shows may have been teased.
Peacemaker Season 2 Makes Amanda Waller’s Fate Mysterious
Firstly, it is worth exploring the Peacemaker season 2 Easter egg in question. In the opening moments of Peacemaker season 2, episode 2, Rick Flag Sr.’s first days as ARGUS chief are shown. On the TV in the ARGUS office, it is mentioned that Amanda Waller has stepped down from her role.
This comes after she was exposed by her daughter, Adebayo, for her involvement in Task Force X and Project ʙuттerfly. Interestingly, though, Peacemaker does not outline exactly what has become of Waller. It is revealed that she is still taking revenge on Harcourt, meaning it is unlikely she will continue to go quietly.
A Waller TV Show Was One Of The DCU’s First-Announced Projects
This links to the fact that one of the first-announced DCU TV shows was Waller. Since then, little has been revealed about the show, though Gunn has provided a few Waller updates. One came in August 2025, with Gunn revealing that, despite moving more slowly than other projects, Waller is still in development, and he is excited to see Viola Davis return as the character.
Peacemaker Season 2 Could Lead Perfectly Into A Waller Series
With Peacemaker season 2 not revealing what Waller is up to and her actions still looming over the show, it could lead perfectly into Waller. As alluded to, Waller is responsible for the life status of both Harcourt and Leota in Peacemaker season 2, showing she is not taking the latter’s deceit lightly.
The concept of a Waller show with Davis front and center as a scorned, angry Amanda Waller sounds overly compelling. Therefore, the DC Universe could explore exactly what Waller is getting up to since stepping down from ARGUS with her own TV show that sets up a big future to come for the important DC character.
