As summer nears its end, September will see the release of the final batch of summer movies of 2025, while it begins to prepare for the Halloween season.
August 2025 saw the theatrical release of some of the most anticipated movies of the summer, such as Disney’s Freakier Friday, the comedy The Naked Gun, the horror movie Weapons, and the long-awaited modern take on The Toxic Avenger.
September will bring the first horror movies of spooky season, with the latest entry in The Conjuring series, a sports horror movie produced by Jordan Peele, a new Stephen King movie, and, to add some balance, the final Downton Abbey movie, among other тιтles.

Last Rites reunites the audience with Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) and Ed Warren (Patrick Wilson), as they take on a new paranormal case. This time, the Warrens meet the Smurl family, who have recently moved into a new home.
However, the family soon discovers that there’s a demonic infestation in the house, and they desperately need the Warrens’ help. It’s now up to the Warrens to get rid of the demon terrorizing the Smurl home, but it will be their toughest case to date. The Conjuring: Last Rites is the ninth installment in the Conjuring movie series.
The Long Walk

The Long Walk is a dystopian horror thriller directed by Francis Lawrence and based on Stephen King’s 1979 novel of the same name. The Long Walk takes viewers to a dystopian United States, taken over by a totalitarian regime. In this world, there’s an annual contest known as the “Long Walk”, which brings together 100 young men.
The contestants have to walk non-stop along a specific route, but they must keep a minimum speed. Anyone who falls below this speed for 30 seconds gets a warning, and after three warnings, they are killed by soldiers monitoring their progress. The contest continues until there’s only one walker left alive.
At the center of the story is Raymond Garraty (Cooper Hoffman), who has strong personal reasons to join the contest. Also starring in The Long Walk are Mark Hamill, Judy Greer, Charlie Plimmer, Garrett Wareing, and David Jonsson.
Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale

The third and final Downton Abbey movie is coming to theaters in September. Directed by Simon Curtis, Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale sees Mary (Michelle Dockery) dealing with the aftermath of her divorce. Mary is now in the middle of a public scandal, while the family faces financial trouble – and because of the latter, they face social disgrace.
Change is imminent for the Crawleys, who will have to embrace it while they prepare for a new chapter and their staff get ready for the next generation. Most of the past movies’ cast are back in Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, along with Paul Giamatti reprising his role from the TV show.

Filmmaker Martin Di Bergi (Reiner) decides to make another video documentary of the band, this time following their reunion and final show. The band faces a couple of obstacles, but always with the sense of humor that made the first movie so great.

David and Sarah decide to go on a journey led by the GPS, which leads them to confront their past, while they also face a crucial decision about their relationship. Now, 16 years later, the group’s evil enemy resurfaces, and it’s tackling their families.
It’s up to Bob to bring the group back together to fight this threat, but there’s a lot of chaos, conflict, and challenges in the way. Also starring in One Battle After Another are Benicio del Toro, Regina Hall, Sean Penn, and Alana Haim, among many others.

As they won’t leave any loose ends, the Strangers go after Maya to finish what they started. Maya will face another real-life nightmare and will have to find a way to survive yet another horrific experience, as the Strangers won’t stop at anything. Also starring in The Strangers – Chapter 2 are Gabriel Bᴀsso and Ema Horvath.
