One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe stars who is appearing in Avengers: Doomsday teases a team-up in the mᴀssive Phase 6 installment. As Phase 6 kicked off for the MCU timeline in 2025, Marvel Studios has only a number of movies and shows left for The Multiverse Saga, which includes the next two Avengers outings.

Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom will be the central threat in Avengers: Doomsday, and numerous MCU heroes have been announced to return for the highly anticipated movie. While filming is currently underway, details on the overall story still remain heavily under wraps.

Tenoch Huerta recently appeared on La Resolana, where he was asked about returning to the MCU franchise as Namor, after his big introduction in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. As he opened up about his second go at playing the iconic Marvel character, Huerta revealed the following about the size of the Avengers story:

Host: Are you ready to get back into it?

Tenoch Huerta: Yes. In truth, the dynamic is different now because there are like 25 characters in the story, which means that each of our roles are smaller. It’s more condensed because we have to make room for all the characters and universes involved. That makes it simpler in terms of the work and effort put into it [by me personally].

The host also attempted to get Huerta to speak on whether the Phase 6 entry will explore Namor and Sue Storm’s dynamic from the comics, as The Fantastic Four: First Steps star Vanessa Kirby is set to return for Avengers: Doomsday. However, Huerta would only share the following about a potential Namor/Sue story in the 2026 movie:

Host: Real question. This happened in the comics?

Tenoch Huerta: It happened in the comics

Host: And…?

Tenoch Huerta: That’s the comics. You’ll have to watch the movie

Host: Vanessa Kirby has mentioned Namor’s name many times. Have you seen that or no?

Tenoch Huerta: I have.

Host: And what do you have to say about that?

Tenoch Huerta: Thank you, Vanessa. I send you my greetings. Besides, she’s a great coworker.

Host: She’s great?

Tenoch Huerta: Yes, yes.

Host: So, she’s spectacular, then?

Tenoch Huerta: Yes.

Host: We’ll keep investigating!

What Tenoch Huerta’s Avengers: Doomsday Comments Mean

When it comes to the larger scope of the story, Huerta’s comments about how the Avengers: Doomsday cast have limited screentime make perfect sense. As more cast members are set to be announced, there has to be a balance for everyone in order for an overall arc to work for the film.

As far as Namor and Sue’s story in Avengers: Doomsday goes, it wouldn’t be shocking if the MCU film does a variation, even though she is already married to Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal). At the very least, Namor may show interest in Sue, which could lead to some funny reactions from Mister Fantastic.

Our Take On Tenoch Huerta’s Avengers: Doomsday Comments

After hearing Huerta’s comments about how the Phase 6 adventure will tackle the overall story, having this many characters in the 2026 entry will likely also be how they approach the arc in Avengers: Secret Wars. Based on Huerta’s response, it definitely sounds like he has worked with Kirby in some capacity.

Time will tell how the Avengers: Secret Wars cast will even look, as filming hasn’t started on the Phase 6 finale, but it wouldn’t come as a shock if there are even more characters in the 2027 film. For now, the MCU audience will have to wait and see what becomes of Namor in Avengers: Doomsday.
