Star Of 1980’s Cult Classic Horror Reboot Is Ready For A Sequel: “It Would Be Equally As Fun”

The Witchboard remake’s Jamie Campbell Bower revealed he would be happy to star in a sequel. Witchboard focuses on a couple who discover a cursed board that is a gateway to the spirit world. Witchboard, which made its film festival premiere in 2024 before being widely released in August 2025, is a remake of the 1986 horror movie of the same name.

Before Witchboard got solid reviews from critics, Bower gained horror experience when he joined the cast of Stranger Things. While fans have agreed that Stranger Things has been worth the wait, it seems like Bower would like Witchboard to get a follow-up before too long. Bower recently explained how interested he is in starring in a Witchboard sequel.

In August 2025, ScreenRant‘s Grant Hermanns interviewed Jamie Campbell Bower for Witchboard. During that conversation, Bower enthusiastically stated that he would like to return for a Witchboard sequel. The actor explained how much fun making Witchboard was, and that he expected to enjoy working on a potential sequel, too. Check out Bower’s comments below:

ScreenRant: The ending to this film leaves the door open for you and Naga Soth, in a way, to come back for a sequel. If Chuck [Russell, director] came back to you with an idea for a follow-up, do you think you’d be down?

Jamie Campbell Bower: Oh, a hundred percent. Having worked enough in this industry, one of the things that I’ve really taken with me is [that] how it feels when you enter into something is how it’s going to feel throughout the process.

And when I read this, I just had so much fun reading it; if there were an opportunity to come back and do it again, I feel like it would be equally as fun. And, of course, to work with Chuck was an absolute dream. And I’ve been fortunate enough to now also have worked with Frank Darabont as well.

I relished the opportunity to work with somebody like Chuck, who has made such great films and really made a really big impact on cinema and made his mark. So, of course, if he came back and was like, “Want to come back and do this again?” I’d be like, Dude, where’s the cape?

What This Means For Witchboard & Jamie Campbell Bower

After learning that Bower told ScreenRant that he wants to star in a Witchboard sequel, two groups may be especially excited. The most obvious people who should be happy about Bower’s remarks are fans of the new and old Witchboard who want to see more.

Witchboard‘s promotion largely focused on Bower due to his onscreen charisma and fame from Stranger Things. As a result, it seems very likely that the studio would completely dismiss the idea of producing a sequel to the ’80s horror movie remake if Bower weren’t involved.

Horror fans should also love Bower’s comments. Among the keys to the success of the horror genre are the pᴀssionate fans who can explain Hereditary‘s ending and actors who become scary movie icons. Given that Bower has also starred in Stranger Things and loved filming this scary movie, he could become a new horror genre staple.

Our Take On Whether The Witchboard Remake Will Get A Sequel

Unfortunately for people who want to see a Witchboard sequel, including Jamie Campbell Bower, there is one clear reason why it likely won’t happen: The sad truth is that Witchboard has underperformed at the box office so far.

That said, anyone who thinks there is no chance a Witchboard sequel will be produced needs to pay closer attention to the movie industry. Throughout the history of the genre, many horror movies have flopped at the box office, earned an audience once people could watch at home, and then gotten a sequel.

If Witchboard finds a large and pᴀssionate enough fan following when it is more widely available, a sequel is possible. That said, the sequel may also have a smaller budget if the studio errs on the side of caution, trying to avoid a potentially bigger box office fallout.
