Netflix’s Smash Hit With 97% RT Officially Breaks 4-Year Streaming Record As The Most Popular Movie Of All-Time

Netflix‘s smash hit has officially broken a four-year streaming record to become its most popular movie of all time. Since 2021, Netflix’s most-watched movie of all time had been Red Notice, sitting steady at 230.9 million views. However, the star-studded action-comedy featuring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot has now been unseated by Netflix’s new smash hit.

The streaming service’s top 10 most popular movies also include Carry-On (2024), the Taron Egerton-led action thriller, and Adam McKay’s star-studded political satire Don’t Look Up (2021), featuring the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Timothée Chalamet, Meryl Streep, and many more. Reynolds appears again in The Adam Project (2022), rounding out the top five.

A longtime favorite in Sandra Bullock’s post-apocalyptic thriller Bird Box (2018) remains in the top 10, joined by recent hits such as Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz’s comedy Back in Action (2025) and Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmai’s star-studded apocalyptic thriller Leave the World Behind (2023), featuring Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, Myha’la, and Kevin Bacon.

Rounding out the top 10 are the Russo brothers’ star-studded action thriller The Gray Man (2022) – featuring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, and Ana de Armas – and Millie Bobby Brown’s fantasy flick, Damsel (2024). Now, Netflix has officially crowned a new most popular movie of all time.

KPop Demon Hunters has officially become Netflix’s most popular movie of all time. It feels long overdue for a Netflix film to surpᴀss Red Notice as the streamer’s most popular movie of all time. Despite its flashy star power and big budget, Red Notice has always felt like the Netflix algorithm’s idea of a blockbuster rather than something that audiences truly cherished. Its critical drubbing, receiving a 37% score on Rotten Tomatoes, underscores how hollow its record truly was.

On the other hand, KPop Demon Hunters is beloved by both critics and audiences, with stellar 97% and 99% scores on Rotten Tomatoes. Its popularity and cultural relevance have transcended beyond the Netflix realm, too, as a sing-along version was released in theaters on August 23-24, and its soundtrack has seen major success, topping multiple charts. At last, the record belongs to something truly deserving.
