From the moment the characters in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth get close to Île Saint-Hubert, they are in a great deal of danger. The island used to be a testing facility and is the home of several failed InGen experiments, thus supplying plenty of dinosaurs for Jurᴀssic World Rebirth. Some of these are brand-new hybrids, like the D-rex and Mutadons, while others are franchise favorites.
Though reviews for Jurᴀssic World Rebirth were more mixed, audience reception trended positive. One of the more well-received elements of the movie was its attempt to bring back the classic thrills found in the original Jurᴀssic Park, harkening back to the tense sequences involving the T. rex and raptors.
The ending of Jurᴀssic World Rebirth alone features a number of hair-raising moments as characters like Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson), Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey), and Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali) fight to survive. All of these tense sequences are thanks to the various dinosaurs featured in the film, who range from innocuous to chill-inducing.
Aquilops
The Aquilops is the smallest dinosaur on this list, and its behavior also makes it the least scary. In Jurᴀssic World Rebirth, Isabella (Audrina Miranda) discovers the Aquilops and treats it like a pet. She even names it Dolores and carries it in her backpack for much of the movie.
Since Dolores is completely friendly to Isabella and the other members of the Delgado family as they traverse Île Saint-Hubert, it must be placed at the bottom of this list. The events of the movie prove that Dolores is completely harmless, and is by far the cutest dinosaur included in the film.
тιтanosaurus
Even though they are much, much bigger than Dolores, the тιтanosaurus in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth do not want to harm any of the human characters. Instead, they are portrayed as peaceful, loving creatures. The тιтanosaurus mating scene actually makes for one of the most wondrous moments in the movie.
Since they are so large, a тιтanosaurus likely could do damage to humans or other dinosaurs if they were attacked. However, they are herbivores and are not natural-born hunters. Therefore, since they are mostly harmless, the тιтanosaurus deserves to be near the bottom of this list.
Ankylosaurus
Most of the dinosaurs get a moment in the spotlight in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth, but the same can’t be said for the Ankylosaurus. This species of dinosaur only shows up briefly when Martin Krebs (Rupert Friend) is driving to the docks in an attempt to escape the island with the dinosaur DNA. The Ankylosaurus walks in front of his car, causing him to swerve off the road.
Even though it gets in his way, the Ankylosaurus is not actually hunting Krebs in this scene, since it is a herbivore. However, its sudden appearance makes for an effective jump scare, providing its own little thrill in its own way.
Dilophosaurus
In previous movies in the franchise, viewers have seen how dangerous a Dilophosaurus can be. The fact that they can shoot poison out of their neck frills makes them an extremely terrifying species. This is precisely why viewers are on the edge of their seats when a Dilophosaurus slowly walks up to Teresa (Luna Blaise) in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth.
However, instead of attacking Teresa, the Dilophosaurus runs away because it is afraid of the nearby T. rex. Even though the appearance of the Dilophosaurus creates some tension, it is not actually that scary. In fact, it is one of the weaker dinosaurs in the movie.
Velociraptor
Just like the Dilophosaurus, Velociraptors are portrayed as a weaker dinosaur species in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth. Two raptors sneak up on Xavier (David Iacono) as he goes to the bathroom in the middle of the night. However, before they make it to the unsuspecting man, they are both snatched up by Mutadons.
This is the only time raptors appear in the franchise’s newest movie. In previous films, raptors have obviously been very scary and ᴅᴇᴀᴅly creatures, but they are essentially replaced by Mutadons in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth. Therefore, since they barely appear in the film, the raptors are ultimately not that scary.
Mosasaurus
Jurᴀssic World Rebirth establishes the Mosasaurus as the king of the ocean. As Zora and her crew approach Île Saint-Hubert, they quickly realize they are in danger when the Mosasaurus tries to attack. This scene is interesting because the Mosasaurus actually teams up with a pack of Spinosaurus while targeting the boat.
During this sequence, the Spinosaurus actually steals the spotlight from the Mosasaurus, since they consistently jump towards the boat in an attempt to kill the characters. Since the Mosasaurus mostly remains in the water, it is not as scary as it has been in the past, but still proves to be an intimidating presence.
Mutadon
About halfway through Jurᴀssic World Rebirth, two Mutadons easily defeat the raptors. This immediately establishes how strong they are and makes viewers terrified when they appear again during the climax of the film. Mutadons are a hybrid of raptors and Pteranodons, which makes them very dangerous creatures.
At the end of Rebirth, a group of Mutadons attack the characters not long after they arrive at the abandoned village, where they hope to be rescued. The Mutadon hunting the Delgado family in the gas station is reminiscent of the kitchen scene in the original Jurᴀssic Park, one of the most thrilling scenes in the entire franchise.
Overall, the Mutadons cause a lot of problems for the characters at the end of Jurᴀssic World Rebirth. They have a scary appearance and are clearly skilled hunters, which is why they deserve to be near the top of this list.
Quetzalcoatlus
While Mutadons have wings, they cannot compete with the Quetzalcoatlus. In Jurᴀssic World Rebirth, the characters need to retrieve the DNA of this flying species of dinosaur. However, recognizing it would be incredibly difficult to shoot one in the air, they instead decide to get the DNA from a Quetzalcoatlus egg.
This seems to be a good plan, until a fully grown Quetzalcoatlus flies back to its nest. It attacks Zora and Henry, and likely would have killed them if LeClerc hadn’t drawn it away. It was a ᴅᴇᴀᴅly decision for him, though, as the Quetzalcoatlus swallows him whole.
The sH๏τ of the Quetzalcoatlus killing LeClerc by swallowing his entire body is horrifying and makes for the most gruesome death in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth. This whole sequence will send shivers down your spine and ups the scare factor of the entire movie.
Tyrannosaurus Rex
The aforementioned Mosasaurus may be the king of the ocean, but the T. rex has always been the king of the entire franchise. The success of the original Jurᴀssic Park movie made the T. rex the most popular dinosaur species ever. It wouldn’t feel like a proper Jurᴀssic movie if one didn’t show up.
In Jurᴀssic World Rebirth, a T. rex targets the Delgado family as they try to escape in an inflatable raft down a river. The T. rex actually swims down the river while in pursuit of them. Ever since the release of the film, many critics and fans have named this scene the most entertaining and thrilling in Jurᴀssic World Rebirth.
Even though the T. rex doesn’t manage to catch its prey, it is easily still one of the scariest dinosaurs. The T. rex is one of the best hunters in the franchise, and is not a dinosaur any character ever wants to come across.
Spinosaurus
For years, fans have debated whether the T. rex or Spinosaurus is scarier. In the case of Jurᴀssic World Rebirth, it is definitely the latter. While the T. rex swims down a river, the Spinosaurus prove that they are gifted swimmers in the ocean as they attack Zora and her crew.
In Jurᴀssic World Rebirth, Spinosaurus kill characters like Bobby and Nina. Nina’s death, in particular, is horrifying since she doesn’t expect the Spinosaurus to sneak up behind her. The dinosaur, which appears to just be a series of rocks, rolling over and attacking Nina is terrifying, and proves why this dinosaur species deserves to be close to the top of this list.
