New Prime Video Movie With 41% RT Score Becomes Instant Streaming Hit

Prime Video has seen some big hits this year. While the platform’s original TV programming is led by тιтles such as Reacher and The Boys, it has also had a number of hits on the movie side of things.

Most recently, this has included Heads of State. Starring John Cena and Idris Elba, the film imagines that the U.S. President and U.K. Prime Minister have to team up when they both end up targets of a foreign adversary. It was directed by Ilya Naishuller and also features Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Paddy Considine, Carla Gugino, Jack Quaid, and Stephen Root.

Heads of State has been very popular this summer, consistently making the top 10 movies list. To further solidify its hit status, the movie became one of Amazon MGM Studios’ best-performing films of all time. Amᴀssing 75 million views, it is the No. 4 most-watched Amazon MGM Studios movie on the Amazon OTT service.

The streamer also achieved decent success with their comedy Deep Cover. The film was widely viewed and got a 90% Tomatometer. Now, one of the platform’s other new films, of a different, distinct genre, has also become a streaming hit.

The Map That Leads To You Is A Hit On Prime Video

Prime Video’s The Map That Leads to You has now made it onto the streaming charts. The movie is a romance drama about a young woman named Heather who is taking a European vacation and ends up meeting a man named Jack. KJ Apa and Madelyn Cline play these romantic leads, with a supporting cast that includes Sofia Wylie, Madison Thompson, Orlando Norman, and Josh Lucas.

The Map That Leads to You has not gotten fantastic reviews from critics so far, as the film has a 41% Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes. This includes a 6 out of 10-star review for The Map That Leads to You from ScreenRant‘s Mae Abdulbaki, who said that the romance movie was “enjoyable” and that the “leads have decent chemistry.”

However, as per Prime Video, The Map That Leads to You is still doing well on the charts. The film is the No. 1 movie in the United States today, Aug. 21. This ranks it above Prime Video’s other new movie, The Pickup, as well as the тιтles Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and Wrath of Man.

What This Means For The Map That Leads To You

This is an impressive feat for The Map That Leads to You, given that it only came out on Aug. 20. That means that the film sH๏τ to success essentially instantly, which bodes well for the future of romance genre films on streaming services like Prime Video.

The streamer had another genre hit last year with The Idea of You, a movie that was also better-received by critics. There’s a good chance that the success of films like The Map That Leads to You will encourage Prime Video to make more romance dramas.
