OG Hamilton Star’s Movie Satisfied Debuts Trailer, Acquired By AURA Entertainment

Renée Elise Goldsberry, a member of the original Broadway cast of Hamilton, is soon releasing her documentary Satisfied, chronicling her experience with the groundbreaking musical and the challenges of balancing this role with her personal life. Along with the trailer’s debut, Satisfied has been acquired by Aura Entertainment, which is partnering with Fathom Entertainment for a theatrical release.

Goldsberry starred as Angelica Schuyler when Hamilton premiered on Broadway in 2015, alongside the likes of Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr., Phillipa Soo, and Daveed Diggs. Satisfied, тιтled after Angelica’s signature song in Hamilton, is coming at the perfect time, with the recorded version of Hamilton releasing in theaters soon for the 10th anniversary.

As seen in the trailer, Satisfied delves into Goldsberry simultaneously pursuing two lifelong dreams of motherhood and being a performer, which became even more difficult with the unprecedented success of Hamilton. Aura and Fathom will be releasing Satisfied in U.S. theaters from Sept. 30 to Oct. 2, 2025. Check out the trailer for Satisfied below:

Satisfied, which was directed by Chris Bolan and Melissa Haizlip, aims to tell the story of Hamilton, which many fans will want to see, but also show what it took to star in this production on an individual level. Aura Entertainment’s CEO Marc Goldberg said in a statement:

Satisfied isn’t just a story about how one role, one show, changed the face of Broadway for future generations; it’s a story about motherhood and resilience. Renée’s story is both personal and powerful, with a behind-the-scenes look at a cultural phenomenon that audiences around the world will find deeply moving.

A decade after its debut, the height of the Hamilton craze may be in the past, but the musical and the story of its explosion on Broadway retain a near-mythical status. The stars are all iconic on the stage and screen, and interest in their personal perspectives on the phenomenon will likely never go away.

As such, Satisfied stands to be a very impactful narrative that fosters greater appreciation for Hamilton. The cast and crew poured everything into bringing this show to life, which not only changed the face of Broadway but recontextualized the history of the United States. For Goldsberry, this came at the cost of less time with her family.

I think the mistake people may make is expecting that Satisfied will be about Hamilton, when it is probably meant to be more about Goldsberry’s journey as a mother while Hamilton was happening. After its strong debut at the Tribeca Film Festival last year, people will hopefully be able to appreciate it as quality documentary filmmaking in and of itself.

I would expect that Satisfied will screen its trailer before Hamilton when it hits theaters on Sept. 5, alerting its exact target audience. While this account of Renée Elise Goldsberry‘s career will surely offer some insight into the Broadway show, its short theatrical release suggests it has nothing to prove, and the star is proud to have told her story.
