New Prime Video Movie With Outer Banks & Riverdale Stars Debuts With Underwhelming Rotten Tomatoes Score

A new Prime Video movie featuring Outer Banks and Riverdale stars debuts with an underwhelming Rotten Tomatoes score. The former is a popular Netflix series that premiered in 2020 with four seasons following a group of teenagers searching for a legendary lost treasure in the тιтular North Carolina community. Outer Banks‘ cast includes Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, and many more.

A few cast members from Outer Banks have gone on to star in feature films, including Madelyn Cline, who has appeared in Netflix’s Glᴀss Onion: A Knives Out Mystery (2022) and led 2025’s I Know What You Did Last Summer. On the other hand, Riverdale premiered on The CW in 2017, following a group of teenagers investigating a murder in the тιтular town.

After seven successful seasons, many Riverdale cast members have moved on to movies, including KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Madelaine Petsch, and Charles Melton. Now, two stars from the teen series have teamed up for a new movie on Prime Video.

The Map That Leads To You Debuts With Underwhelming Rotten Tomatoes Score

The Map That Leads to You has debuted with an underwhelming Rotten Tomatoes score. Based on the novel of the same name by J.P. Monninger, Prime Video’s new romantic drama follows a girl who meets a boy on a European vacation after graduation, leading to an unexpected emotional journey.

The Map That Leads to You cast includes Outer Banks star Madelyn Cline and Riverdale‘s KJ Apa, alongside Sofia Wylie (The School for Good and Evil), Madison Thompson (Ozark), and Josh Lucas. It was directed by Lᴀsse Hallström, who received Oscar nominations for My Life as a Dog (1985) and The Cider House Rules (1999).

Now, on the day of its release on Prime Video, The Map That Leads to You has debuted with an underwhelming 40% score on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie only has 15 reviews at the time of writing, so the score should fluctuate as more are published. With fewer than 50 user ratings, it doesn’t yet have an audience score, though it should very soon.

What The Map That Leads To You’s Rotten Tomatoes Score Means For The Movie

The movie’s Rotten Tomatoes score means that its reviews are mostly negative. However, ScreenRant‘s The Map That Leads to You review by Mae Abdulbaki is mostly positive, who writes, “KJ Apa and Madelyn Cline will win you over in Prime Video’s enjoyable, low-stakes romantic drama… The film is not particularly memorable, but it also has its moments, elevated by the chemistry between [its two leads].”

Otherwise, the reviews are mixed, with many praising its visuals, chemistry between the leads, and moments of charm, while also criticizing its clichéd plot, shallow emotional depth, and predictable romance. Some critics see it as a sweet and light-hearted story suited for younger audiences, though many others find The Map That Leads to You to be formulaic, overly safe, and emotionally unconvincing.
