Although the rate of upcoming Marvel movies has slowed, there is still plenty to anticipate between the MCU Phase 6 release slate and other Marvel movies beyond the MCU. This release slate incorporates both films and shows, which will either air on Disney+ or other streamers like Amazon Prime.
Marvel movies in general are in the midst of a pivotal moment. As MCU Phase 6 rounds out the Multiverse Saga and heralds a rebooted MCU, Sony’s oversight of the Spider-Man franchise has become more laser-focused on the popular wall-crawler following the demise of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, which concluded with Kraven the Hunter in 2024.
Information about these upcoming Marvel movies will be updated as further details are released. In the meantime, here’s what to expect from all things Marvel throughout the coming years.
1
Spider-Man: Brand New Day – July 31, 2026
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is slated to release more than one year after the MCU’s previous installment, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, on July 31, 2026. This is the widest gap between MCU movies since the pandemic, where two years separated the release dates of Spider-Man: Far From Home and Black Widow.
Spider-Man’s fourth solo venture in the MCU also borrows its тιтle from a comic book run. Marvel Comics’ “Brand New Day” delves into the aftermath of Spider-Man’s reclaimed anonymity, and debuts such characters as Mister Negative and Jackpot.
Story details for Spider-Man: Brand New Day are slowly beginning to materialize as Brand New Day cast members are unveiled. While Marvel Studios is yet to confirm specifics, the presence of Jon Bernthal’s Punisher and Michael Mando’s Scorpion hints at a street-level tale. Spider-Man: Brand New Day set pH๏τos snapped on the streets of Glasgow, Scotland, bolster this notion.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings‘ Destin Daniel Cretton is directing Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which has stoked excitement about the action sequences and character-driven narrative that audiences can expect. Spider-Man also dons a new suit, which notably borrows design elements from Tobey Maguire’s rendition of the character.
Joining Jon Bernthal and Michael Mando, the returning cast includes Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Zendaya (MJ), Jacob Batalon (Ned), and Mark Ruffalo (Hulk). Stranger Things‘ Sadie Sink and The Bear‘s Liza Colón-Zayas have also been confirmed in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
2
Avengers: Doomsday – December 18, 2026
Avengers: Doomsday is slated to release on December 18, 2026, which was pushed back from the original release date of May 1, 2026. It will be the first official Avengers movie since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, and the first Avengers movie within the Multiverse Saga (Thunderbolts*’ New Avengers тιтle change notwithstanding).
Principal pH๏τography for Avengers: Doomsday began at the end of April 2025, and scenes from that set have been used in the post-credits scenes of Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. From these and external reports, certain details about the Avengers: Doomsday plot have been revealed.
Thunderbolts* established that the New Avengers will be at loggerheads with Captain America’s Avengers team in Avengers: Doomsday as the Fantastic Four’s spaceship enters Earth-616 unannounced. The Fantastic Four: First Steps post-credits scene also debuted Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, who pays a visit to Franklin Richards as the young mutant reaches out to touch Doom’s exposed face.
Both scenes were directed by the Russo Brothers, who have been brought back to direct Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars following their dizzying success with prior double-tentpoles, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The directors have championed the involvement of Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom as a pivotal reason for their return.
A significant portion of the Avengers: Doomsday cast was revealed in an hours-long live-stream media stunt in March 2025. The cast includes veteran MCU actors comprising the Avengers, New Avengers, and Wakandans, in addition to MCU newcomers, the Fantastic Four, and characters from Fox’s X-Men franchise. Kevin Feige has confirmed that these teams will each rally against Doctor Doom.

Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse – June 4, 2027
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse‘s release date has been pushed back several times since it was first announced in 2021, but is currently slated for June 4, 2027. It is the first upcoming Marvel movie with a confirmed release date to sit outside the MCU’s continuity as it rounds out Sony’s animated Spider-Verse trilogy.
As the third installment of the trilogy, it is set to conclude Miles Morales’ multiverse-hopping adventures after Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse saw him trapped with a seemingly villainous variant of himself, the Prowler, in another universe. Meanwhile, Spider-Gwen leads the charge as a rebellious cohort of Spider-Variants prepares to rescue their friend, to the chagrin of Miguel O’Hara.
Specific story details are still under wraps as production meticulously forges ahead, with Sony no doubt striving to triple down on the dizzying critical and financial success of the trilogy’s first two installments. Justin K. Thompson and Bob Persichetti, who directed Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, respectively, are co-directing the third installment.
With how Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse ended, most, if not all, of the main cast from that movie are expected to return for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. As yet, no new cast members have been confirmed to be joining the project as new characters.

Avengers: Secret Wars – December 17, 2027
Avengers: Secret Wars will release one year after Avengers: Doomsday on December 17, 2027. This follows the same format as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, though there are notably no MCU movies announced to fill the space between, like Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel did during the Infinity Saga’s climax.
Story details for Avengers: Secret Wars are unsurprisingly sparse. For now, it is confirmed that Doctor Doom will remain the arch-villain, while clues to the plot can be gleaned from the comic run of the same name, in which Doom rules over Battleworld, a world cobbled together with sections of different universes, as its omnipotent God Emperor.
It is also clear that Avengers: Secret Wars will precede a now-confirmed reboot of the MCU. This may be part of a cataclysm that necessitates new actors in high-profile roles like Iron Man and Professor X, or it could follow comic book precedent wherein a new multiverse is created at the end.
The Russo Brothers are returning to direct Avengers: Secret Wars, while the Fantastic Four are the only superheroes thus far confirmed to be returning. Given the high stakes of Avengers: Doomsday, it is uncertain which, if any, other characters will survive the events to make it into Avengers: Secret Wars, unless confirmed by Marvel Studios.

Black Panther 3 – Release Date TBD
Black Panther 3 was confirmed to be in development in December 2024, though the anticipated third installment has yet to receive a release date. It is still possible that it could fill the gulf between Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, but with no news about Black Panther 3 entering production, this is uncertain.
What is known is that Ryan Coogler, who wrote and directed the first two Black Panther movies, is on board to produce Black Panther 3. Hollywood royalty, Denzel Washington, is also confirmed to be involved in an as-yet-undisclosed role. It is likely to follow on from the events of either Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars.
6
Blade – Release Date TBD
Although it is still ostensibly confirmed to be in development, Blade does not currently appear on the MCU’s upcoming release slate. This follows several years of Blade languishing in development hell, where several filmmakers have been attached to the project. Blade additionally made an off-screen appearance in one of the Eternals post-credits scenes.
Mahershala Ali is still attached to portray the тιтular Daywalker and may still be joined by Mia Goth. As yet, however, little is known about the project’s fate or when audiences can finally expect to see Blade’s live-action MCU debut, although the character is due to appear in 2025’s Marvel Zombies show.
7
Armor Wars – Release Date TBD
Like Blade, Armor Wars is still ostensibly in development but hasn’t received a significant update since its development was shifted from a show to a movie. Nevertheless, Don Cheadle’s James Rhodes and director Yᴀssir Lester are still attached to the project, which will address Iron Man’s legacy after his death in Avengers: Infinity War.
Further Armor Wars story details are to be determined, with Don Cheadle offering little in the way of updates in 2024. Nevertheless, it is primed to reintroduce fan-favorite characters like Sam Rockwell’s Justin Hammer, while Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams and Alden Ehrenreich’s Ezekiel Stane have now been established after Ironheart‘s release.
8
Shang-Chi 2 – Release Date TBD
With Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings‘ Destin Daniel Cretton currently working on Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it is unlikely that Shang-Chi 2, which he was initially attached to, will make much progress any time soon. Shang Chi actor, Simu Liu, is additionally working on Avengers: Doomsday and possibly Avengers: Secret Wars.
It will therefore presumably fall to Avengers: Doomsday to address the post-credits tease in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which saw the тιтular hero and other Avengers veterans discovering a beacon nestled within Shang-Chi’s Ten Rings. Shang-Chi 2, therefore, will likely pick up after Shang-Chi’s activities in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars.
