Bella Ramsey expresses interest in playing Spider-Man if they were to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future. The English actor broke through with their memorable role as the fierce Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones before joining another HBO series, The Last of Us. For their role as Ellie, Ramsey has received critical acclaim, including two Emmy nominations.

Other than the two HBO series, Ramsey has also played Mildred Hubble in the CBBC series The Worst Witch (2017–2020) and voiced the тιтular role in Netflix’s animated series Hilda (2018–2023). They also played the тιтular role in Lena Dunham’s historical comedy Catherine Called Birdy (2022) and a heroin addict in the BBC prison drama Time (2023), continuing to garner critical acclaim.

During Ramsey’s recent interview with Variety, the conversation pivoted towards superheroes due to their Last of Us co-star Pedro Pascal’s MCU debut in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Asked whether they called Pascal to lobby for a role in a future MCU movie, Ramsey playfully responded by saying they could play Spider-Man.

Ramsey went on to praise Tom Holland’s performance, suggesting Marvel might need to create a brand-new superhero for them instead. I could be Spider-Man. Tom Holland did a great job though. So maybe they do need to make a new [superhero] for me… It was the first time I watched a Marvel film, and that was two months, three months ago… Incredible. I loved it.

What This Means For Bella Ramsey Playing Spider-Man

Based on their comments, Bella Ramsey doesn’t seem to be very serious about playing Spider-Man in the MCU. They recognize that Tom Holland is doing a great job, who is currently filming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, due out in July 2026. If Ramsey does ever join the MCU, they recognize they would likely need to play a different superhero.

However, there are many other projects other than the mainline MCU movies that could offer Ramsey a chance at playing Spider-Man. There are the animated Spider-Verse movies, which feature countless variations of Spider-People, with two spin-off films, Spider-Women and Spider-Punk, also in development. Ramsey has a background in voice acting, making them a great fit for any animated Spider-Man projects.

Our Take On Bella Ramsey Playing Spider-Man (Or Another Marvel Superhero)

Given Bella Ramsey’s track record of acclaimed performances, a leap into the MCU seems entirely plausible. While Spider-Man is likely off the table because of Tom Holland, Ramsey seems like the perfect candidate to play Kitty Pryde in the MCU’s X-Men reboot. Otherwise, Marvel could easily craft a new superhero, giving Ramsey a role uniquely their own.
