A smash hit Seth Rogen comedy is becoming a streaming hit on yet another platform. Rogen is an actor, writer, director, and producer who is best known for his work in the comedy genre, after having broken out in a string of Judd Apatow comedies, including The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up.

Altogether, Seth Rogen movies have cumulatively grossed more than $9.5 billion, thanks to multiple solid hits, including Kung Fu Panda ($632.2 million), Neighbors ($270.9 million), Superbad ($169.9 million), and Pineapple Express ($102.4 million).

However, only two of Seth Rogen’s movies have earned more than $1 billion. One is the live-action remake The Lion King ($1.66 billion), and the other is a popular тιтle that is currently surging on streaming once again.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie Is Surging On A New Streamer

2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie has become a hit on a brand-new streamer. The Illumination movie, which adapts the iconic video game franchise, boasts a star-studded voice cast that includes Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie was a smash hit in theaters, grossing $1.36 billion worldwide and becoming the second highest-grossing animated movie of all time (Inside Out 2 and Ne Zha II have since pushed it to No. 4).

It followed that success by becoming a streaming hit when it subsequently premiered on Netflix. After debuting on the streamer’s weekly global chart of the most-watched English-language movies, it remained in the Top 10 for 22 weeks. It also ranked No. 17 on Nielsen’s chart of the most-watched streaming movies for the first half of 2025.

Now, The Super Mario Bros. Movie has leaped onto a brand-new streaming chart in the United States. It is currently No. 9 on the daily Top 10 chart of the most-watched movies on Prime Video in the region. It remains to be seen if it will climb the chart over the following days.

Currently, the movie, which is also charting in Colombia (No. 9), Guatemala (No. 7), and Mexico (No. 6), is holding its own on the chart in spite of compeтιтion from contemporary Prime Video originals that have been surging on the platform, including War of the Worlds (No. 3), Heads of State (No. 6), and The Pickup (No. 1).

The animated movie’s continued streaming success is proof of concept for the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Movie 2, which is set to debut in theaters on April 3, 2026. While the record-smashing box office gross of the 2023 movie was more than enough to earn a sequel, the fact that it has continued to find robust at-home audiences is astounding.
