New John Wick-Esque Movie Establishes A Rare Rotten Tomatoes Streak For Action Franchise

A new action movie with heavy ties to the John Wick franchise is performing well on Rotten Tomatoes. The John Wick movies star Keanu Reeves in the тιтle role as a retired ᴀssᴀssin whose revenge mission after the murder of his dog takes him on a violent and grandiose adventure.

The franchise has so far lasted for four movies with various feature-length and episodic spinoffs. John Wick Director David Leitch also co-founded the company 87North productions (with Kelly McCormick), which largely focuses on ushering other Wick-esque productions to the screen.

The 87North roster includes the Christmas action-comedy Violent Night, the Brad Pitt actioner Bullet Train, the Mary Elizabeth Winstead-led Netflix movie Kate, the stunt-heavy Ryan Gosling movie The Fall Guy, and a new movie that has just earned a solid Rotten Tomatoes score.

Nobody 2 Has Won Over Critics

Nobody 2 has established a Rotten Tomatoes streak for the franchise. The 87North movie is a sequel to 2021’s Nobody, which starred Bob Odenkirk as seemingly unᴀssuming businessman Hutch Mansell, who finds himself drawing upon his past as an ᴀssᴀssin when he is dragged into a John Wick-style action adventure.

The sequel, which takes place years after the ending of Nobody and sees Hutch trying to keep his family vacation afloat while tangling with a local crime boss, was directed by Timo Tjahjanto and features returning co-stars Connie Nielsen, RZA, Christopher Lloyd, Gage Munroe, and Paisley Cadorath, alongside newcomers including John Ortiz, Colin Hanks, and Sharon Stone.

Rotten Tomatoes has now aggregated enough reviews to give Nobody 2 an official Tomatometer score. While the score could fluctuate as more reviews are added, at the time of writing, 126 reviews have been tabulated to give the movie a solidly Fresh score of 78%. Additionally, Nobody 2 has enough reviews to be officially Certified Fresh on the platform.

By earning a Certified Fresh score, 2025’s Nobody 2 has continued a Rotten Tomatoes H๏τ streak for the franchise. The original movie previously earned a Certified Fresh 84% Tomatometer score and a Verified H๏τ 94% audience score on the Popcornmeter.

While it remains to be seen if audiences love the new movie enough for it to be Verified H๏τ as well, it so far has 92% on the Popcornmeter thanks to more than 250 verified ratings, so if it maintains that level of approval as more user reviews are added, it will be Verified H๏τ before long.

This franchise H๏τ streak is a good sign for 87North, because Nobody 2 is the first non-John Wick sequel that they have produced. As they continue to establish other franchises with other sequels like the upcoming Violent Night 2, if they continue to have this level of critical approval, they could have quite a few Wick-style successes on their hands.
