Happy Gilmore 2’s Bear Casting Theory Finally Addressed By Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift finally addressed whether she played the bear in Happy Gilmore 2. The Adam Sandler movie follows Happy Gilmore, a widowed alcoholic and ex-golfer who returns to the sport to help pay for his daughter’s ballet classes. From rapper Eminem to elite athlete Rickie Fowler, the Netflix movie is full of celebrity cameos.

This includes Travis Kelce making an appearance in Happy Gilmore 2. In the scene where Happy asks Bad Bunny’s Oscar Mejias to go to his happy place, he pictures putting honey on a shirtless Kelce to attract the bear. Although the stunt performer, Brandon Alan Smith, was credited for the role, many believed that Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, may have been the one playing the bear.

While talking to Jason and Travis Kelce on their podcast, New Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce, Swift clarified her relationship with Happy Gilmore 2. The singer shared that she felt “honored” that fans thought she was in the movie, stressing that she’s a fan who has “watched it multiple times” while expressing admiration for the actor behind the bear’s performance. Read her comment below:

I can deny. Like, this is one of those ones where we’ll send it to each other and be like, “Hey, did you hear I was the bear?” And he’s like, “Yeah, you hear we bought a house in Lake Como?”

At this point, we’re just like, “Of course they think I’m inside of a bear costume.” Like, I’m honored to be thought of in that context, because I loved that movie so much. I watched it multiple times.

Whoever did the bear acting was exquisite. Exquisite performance.

Swift is no stranger to rumors, and her relationship with Kelce has frequently made the headlines. Swift’s comment suggests that she’s not in the bear costume, nor did they buy a house in Lake Como. On the other hand, it also reveals her fondness for the Happy Gilmore sequel, a film that she watched “multiple times.”

Happy Gilmore 2 dominated the streamer’s charts after its release. With a 64% RT score from the critics and a 66% acceptance rate from the viewers, the reception to the movie was mixed. However, it didn’t stop it from breaking Netflix records, having generated 46.7 million views in the first three days.

In the same podcast, the “Anti-Hero” singer also announced her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, which will arrive on Oct. 3. Meanwhile, Swift is also reportedly working on her first feature-length movie, which she wrote.

Our Take On Taylor Swift’s Casting Rumor In Happy Gilmore 2

It would’ve been hilarious if Taylor Swift were in the bear costume. While the idea sounds delicious, Happy Gilmore 2‘s cast doesn’t include the singer. Since their relationship was publicized in September 2023, there has been an increased interaction between Swift and Kelce’s professional lives. Swift frequently attends Chiefs’ games to support Kelce, and Kelce has been spotted at the Eras Tour concerts.

Swift occasionally appears on the Kelce brothers’ podcast, and with the NFL star having a memorable cameo in Happy Gilmore 2, the two are both becoming more active in the entertainment space. There is a logical reason behind fans’ suspicion, but if Swift were really in the movie, she wouldn’t be playing a bear.
