The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Latest Box Office Milestone Has It Dominating 1 Avengers: Doomsday Team

The Fantastic Four: First Steps has pᴀssed a box office milestone that puts the team in good standing when it comes to another superhero squad that will appear in Avengers: Doomsday. After the absence of Avengers movies in the Multiverse Saga, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is getting ready to bring back its biggest franchise with the biggest MCU movies yet.

Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars will shake up the franchise. Besides putting Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom front and center of the cast of the next Avengers movie, Marvel will include several superhero teams to go up against Victor von Doom. After The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ post-credits scene introduced Doctor Doom, the team is now linked to another Doomsday element.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps has sadly not performed as well at the box office as expected. The MCU movie is dealing with major drops and legs that fail to excite like that of DC’s Superman, July’s other major superhero release. However, the Fantastic Four had more than enough firepower to take the crown as the MCU’s highest-grossing 2025 movie.

To do so, the MCU Fantastic Four movie’s box office exceeded that of Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts*. Sam Wilson’s Avengers and the New Avengers, formerly known as the Thunderbolts, will play a role in Avengers: Doomsday‘s story. Besides those teams and the Fantastic Four, Fox’s original X-Men will also show up in the anticipated MCU movie.

As was the case for 2025’s other superhero movies, The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ box office has also achieved an impressive feat when it comes to the X-Men franchise. With a domestic total of $235 million, that is higher than every X-Men movie’s domestic run. For comparison, the highest-grossing X-Men movie domestically was X-Men: The Last Stand, at $234.4 million.

Going into Avengers: Doomsday, the X-Men are likely the team in the spotlight. Sure, the MCU’s new Avengers team, which should be Sam’s, will be the source of a lot of attention. However, Marvel Studios is bringing back Fox’s original X-Men, who are beloved, for the first time in several years. They could also don comics-accurate suits to top it off.

Like the X-Men, the Fantastic Four are also now joining the MCU. Before The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ release, it did not look like the team could outshine the X-Men. However, given how the MCU version of the Fantastic Four beats all the X-Men movies at the domestic box office, it could be the surprise scene-stealer when they meet.
