Netflix’s New Crime Thriller Led By MCU Star Debuts With Fresh Rotten Tomatoes Score

A new crime thriller from Netflix has been well-received on Rotten Tomatoes. The streaming service, which is one of the biggest in the world, features a library of licensed movie and television тιтles, but they are best known for their original projects, which include mᴀssive hits such as Squid Game, Stranger Things, and the 2025 smash KPop Demon Hunters.

Because they produce releases in a wide variety of genres, there have been a number of major Netflix thrillers in the crime genre. While some have not been well-reviewed on Rotten Tomatoes, such as Pain Hustlers (23%) and Reptile (44%), others have been better-received, including The Irishman (95%), El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (92%), and their newest outing.

Night Always Comes Has Debuted With A Fresh Rotten Tomatoes Score

Netflix’s Night Always Comes has won over critics so far. The new Netflix movie is a crime thriller directed by Benjamin Caron (The Crown, Sherlock) and based on the Willy Vlautin novel published in 2021. Set in the Pacific Northwest, it follows Lynette (The Fantastic Four: First Steps star Vanessa Kirby), who is in dire straits and needs money, quickly.

The star-studded ensemble cast of the movie includes Jennifer Jason Leigh, Julia Fox, Michael Kelly, Zack Gottsagen, Stephen James, and Thanksgiving director Eli Roth. The movie also features Randall Park, who is a Marvel Cinematic Universe alum just like Kirby, having appeared in Ant-Man and the Wasp, Quantumania, and WandaVision.

Rotten Tomatoes has now aggregated an official Tomatometer score for Night Always Comes. While the score could fluctuate if and when more reviews are added, at the time of writing, 20 different critics’ reviews have been tabulated, giving the movie a Fresh score of 65%.

The majority of the positive reviews have given Night Always Comes scores of either 3 out of 5 or 7 out of 10, indicating that critics are liking it more than they are loving it. However, the most positive review so far has given the movie 9 out of 10, so there is a range of opinions on the project.

What This Means For Vanessa Kirby

If Night Always Comes is able to maintain its Fresh score, it will join Vanessa Kirby’s 11 other Fresh movies (which include The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Pieces of a Woman, Hobbs & Shaw, and two Mission: Impossible movies) to officially make it so that she has twice as many Fresh films as Rotten ones.

Night Always Comes also helps reverse a slump for Vanessa Kirby. The Fresh scores for The Fantastic Four: First Steps and the new Netflix movie come during a time when her recent outings have been largely Rotten. She has earned two-thirds of her Rotten scores since 2021, with the movies Italian Studies (42%), The Son (29%), Napoleon (58%), and Eden (58%).
