Weapons has pᴀssed a huge global milestone toward the end of its first full week in theaters. The new movie is the second horror feature from director Zach Cregger after his 2022 smash hit Barbarian.

Weapons follows a small town that is thrown into disarray by the simultaneous disappearances of 17 local children, and features a star-studded ensemble cast that includes Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, Alden Ehrenreich, Cary Christopher, Austin Abrams, Benedict Wong, and Amy Madigan

Per The Numbers, Weapons has now reached a cumulative global box office total of $100.6 million, comprising $59.9 million at the domestic box office and $40.7 million from international markets. This means that the horror film has become the 25th movie of 2025 to pᴀss the $100 million milestone worldwide.

Additionally, it is only the fourth horror movie to cross the $100 million milestone this year, after 28 Years Later ($150.4 million), Final Destination Bloodlines ($285.3 million), and Sinners ($365.9 million).

What This Means For Weapons

The fact that 2025’s Weapons has hit the $100 million global milestone over the course of a single week is a remarkable achievement. In fact, it has already more than doubled the entire worldwide run of Zach Cregger’s Barbarian, which only earned $45.3 million overall.

It is set to propel itself even further up the chart during its sophomore weekend. The current projections from Box Office Theory show that it is expected to take No. 1 at the domestic box office for the second consecutive weekend with a 3-day haul of $25 million.

That sophomore haul should push it past yet another major global milestone via North American earnings alone. All of its earnings should be pure profit at that point, as well.

Although the exact break-even point is unknown, the average movie only has to earn two and a half times its budget in theaters. Because Weapons reportedly cost $38 million, its estimated break-even point is likely somewhere around $95 million, a total that the Josh Brolin movie took less than seven days to sprint past.

Our Take On The Weapons Box Office Milestone

After Ryan Coogler’s Sinners sH๏τ up the charts this spring, Weapons has become the second runaway original horror hit of the year. In fact, it is only the sixth original horror movie of the decade to earn more than $100 million, after M3GAN, Smile, Nope, Longlegs, and Sinners.

In addition to its commercial success, it’s a critical success, boasting a near-perfect, Certified Fresh, Rotten Tomatoes score of 94%. It seems highly likely that, between Barbarian, Weapons, and his upcoming Resident Evil reboot, Zach Cregger will have cemented himself as a master of horror long before the 2020s have come to a close.
