Sisu 2 Release Date & тιтle Confirmed Following $14M WW2 Sleeper Hit

Sisu 2 has gotten a huge update. The upcoming movie is a sequel to Sisu, a Finnish action-thriller written and directed by Jalmari Helander which followed the miner Aatami Korpi (Jorma Tommila) violently defending his gold from Nazi soldiers during the final days of World War II.

2023’s Sisu was both a critical and commercial success, earning a Certified Fresh Rotten Tomatoes score of 94% and grossing $14.3 million worldwide against its reported budget of €6 million (roughly $6.5 million), later earning an additional $4 million in physical media sales.

The upcoming Sisu 2 has an even larger reported budget of $12.2 million. Additionally, the impending sequel, which was also written and directed by Helander, has added the English-language stars Richard Brake (Barbarian, The Strangers: Chapter 2) and Stephen Lang (Avatar: The Way of Water, Don’t Breathe) alongside the returning Tommila.

Sony has now officially announced the тιтle and release date for the Sisu sequel. The movie will be тιтled Sisu: Road to Revenge and will come to domestic theaters on November 21, 2025. Read the official synopsis of the sequel below:

SISU: ROAD TO REVENGE is a wall-to-wall cinematic action event, a sequel to the original sleeper hit SISU. Returning to the house where his family was brutally murdered during the war, “the man who refuses to die” (Jorma Tommila) dismantles it, loads it on a truck, and is determined to rebuild it somewhere safe in their honor. When the Red Army commander who killed his family (Stephen Lang) comes back hellbent on finishing the job, a relentless, eye-popping cross-country chase ensues – a fight to the death, full of clever, unbelievable action set pieces.

What This Means For Sisu 2

This update reveals that the intense ending of Sisu will receive its follow-up surprisingly soon, with its sequel coming just two years and seven months after the movie originally debuted in the United States. Sisu: Road to Revenge is also set to arrive during an interesting time at the domestic box office.

Sisu premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2022, which was followed by its Finnish debut in January 2023 and its U.S. debut in April 2023.

October through December tends to be the time when movies premiere when they are aiming to attract awards attention. Because action тιтles do not tend to get many prestigious awards, Sisu: Road to Revenge is not a likely candidate for Oscar buzz, but it is set to debut during a time when there will generally be more attention on smaller international releases.

It will also arrive the weekend before Thanksgiving, which tends to be a robust period at the domestic box office. While it will be competing with the upcoming Wicked: For Good, which is a H๏τly anticipated franchise tentpole, it could be well positioned as counterprogramming to the splashy Wizard of Oz prequel musical.

Our Take On The Sisu 2 Update

While it remains to be seen if the sequel lives up to the original, the тιтle Sisu: Road to Revenge is promising. If it lives up to its new subтιтle and its slightly expanded but still straightforward premise, it could be just as brutally simple as its predecessor, appealing to a broader international audience without sacrificing the original movie’s intensity.
