Thunderbolts* Streaming Release Date On Disney+ Confirmed

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Thunderbolts*.Marvel Studios has set the Disney+ release date for Thunderbolts*. After building up the team throughout Phase 4, the MCU timeline finally brought the Thunderbolts characters together, but the group ended up being more than just morally gray players joining forces, as the Thunderbolts* movie ending saw them become the New Avengers.

Directed by Jake Schreier, with a screenplay by Eric Pearson and Joanna Calo, Thunderbolts* was the final installment of Phase 5 of The Multiverse Saga. Following the Thunderbolts* post-credits scenes, many have been waiting to find out when the movie will finally be available on Disney+.

Thunderbolts* became available to watch at home on Digital in July. But after nearly a month, Marvel Studios has finally announced that Thunderbolts* will officially start streaming on Disney+ on Aug. 27. Check out the announcement video below:

While a Thunderbolts* 2 movie is not happening as of right now, the New Avengers will not be gone for long from the MCU franchise. Presently, the leading Thunderbolts* cast members are filming Avengers: Doomsday, with Anthony and Joe Russo directing the Phase 6 installment, which will release on Dec. 18, 2026.

Even though it hasn’t been announced, it wouldn’t be shocking if the Thunderbolts* leads are also part of the Avengers: Secret Wars cast, as filming on the Phase 6 finale will happen at a later time. In terms of what will happen to the Thunderbolts* characters after The Multiverse Saga, plans for Phase 7 and beyond have not been fully confirmed yet.

While Thunderbolts* may have been a box office disappointment for Marvel Studios, it would be no surprise if the MCU antihero team-up film ends up becoming a big hit on Disney+. Since they are now being marketed as the New Avengers, it may encourage more fans who didn’t catch it in theaters to watch it on Disney+.

Hopefully, with several Thunderbolts* cast members being included in Avengers: Doomsday, the Disney+ release will allow the movie to become more successful through streaming. With Thunderbolts* confirmed to head to Disney+ on Aug. 27, time will tell how the film performs on the streaming platform.
