Bob Odenkirk’s New Action Movie Debuts With Solid Rotten Tomatoes Score

Bob Odenkirk began his career in comedy, first making his mark as a writer for Saturday Night Live from 1987 to 1991 before he went on to write and perform in The Ben Stiller Show (1992), earning Emmys for both. Later, he co-created and starred in HBO’s seminal sketch series Mr. Show with Bob and David (1995–1998), earning three more Emmy nods.

Transitioning into dramatic work, Odenkirk achieved widespread acclaim for his portrayal as the unscrupulous criminal lawyer Saul Goodman, later Jimmy McGill, in both Breaking Bad and its prequel Better Call Saul. His performance in the latter earned him six Emmy nominations, and in 2024, he added another Emmy nod to his résumé for his guest role in The Bear.

Odenkirk has also built an eclectic film career. He debuted as a feature director with Melvin Goes to Dinner (2003) and helmed several more movies. He’s had supporting roles in celebrated films such as Nebraska (2013), The Post (2017), and Little Women (2019), and expanded his range further with the action movie Nobody (2021) and its upcoming sequel.

Nobody 2 Debuts With Solid Rotten Tomatoes Score

Nobody 2 has debuted with a solid Rotten Tomatoes score. A sequel to 2021’s Nobody, the upcoming action thriller follows Bob Odenkirk’s Hutch Mansell as he whisks his family away for a well-earned getaway to the quaint tourist town of Plummerville, only to become the target of a crooked theme-park mogul, a dubious sheriff, and a ruthless crime lord.

In addition to Odenkirk, Nobody 2‘s cast also includes Connie Nielsen, RZA, Michael Ironside, Colin Salmon, Billy MacLellan, Gage Munroe, Paisley Cadorath, and Christopher Lloyd reprising their roles from the first film. Emmy nominee Colin Hanks (Fargo), John Ortiz, Emmy nominee Mckenna Grace (The Handmaid’s Tale), and Oscar nominee Sharon Stone (Casino) join the ensemble.

The sequel is directed by Timo Tjahjanto, taking over for Ilya Naishuller. John Wick‘s Derek Kolstad returned to co-write the script.

Now, ahead of its theatrical release on August 15, Nobody 2 has debuted with a solid 81% score from the critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The sequel has 37 reviews at the time of writing, so its score is subject to fluctuation as more are published.

For now, the sequel’s score falls just below the original movie, which has an 84% score from critics, coupled with a 94% audience score. The sequel does not yet have an audience score, though it will begin to take shape once it releases in theaters.

What Nobody 2’s Rotten Tomatoes Score Means For The Movie

Nobody 2 Exclusive Still Featured ScreenRant Bob Odenkirk with bloody nose

Nobody 2‘s Rotten Tomatoes score means its reviews are mostly positive. For instance, in ScreenRant‘s Nobody 2 review, Mae Abdulbaki writes, “Bob Odenkirk delivers bone-crunching action in [a] relentlessly entertaining sequel that knows exactly what it is… Nobody 2’s themes could’ve been better explored, but it’s easy to overlook that and enjoy the fun, action-packed ride.”

Otherwise, reviews are praising its over-the-top action, dark humor, and Odenkirk’s charismatic return as Hutch, with many noting that Tjahjanto brings fresh energy to the mayhem. However, some critics claim the sequel doesn’t reinvent the genre or match the surprise of the first film. Overall, Nobody 2 is an entertaining and chaotic ride that delivers exactly what fans come for.
