Taylor Sheridan’s New Action Movie Adds 3 Major Stars To Join 1923’s Brandon Sklenar, Filming Set To Begin Soon

F.A.S.T., a new action movie written by hit showrunner Taylor Sheridan, has found its leading men. The movie will tell the story of a former special forces commando who is enlisted by the DEA to take on drug dealers in his town who happen to be under the protection of the CIA. Filming begins in August.

Taylor Sheridan has become one of the most successful showrunners of the modern TV era, having created Yellowstone, Landman, Lioness, Mayor of Kingstown, 1923, 1883, and more. But he is also a successful screenwriter, having penned Denis Villeneuve’s Sicario and David Mackenzie’s Hell or High Water. F.A.S.T. will be directed by longtime Sheridan collaborator Ben Richardson.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that LaKeith Stanfield, Sam Claflin, Trevante Rhodes, and Jason Clarke are signed on to appear in F.A.S.T., a new action film written by Yellowstone and 1923 showrunner Taylor Sheridan. They join 1923‘s Brandon Sklenar.

What This Casting Update Means For F.A.S.T.

Taylor Sheridan projects have long attracted top-tier talent, and F.A.S.T. is clearly no exception. But the fact that actors as established as Sam Claflin and Atlanta star LaKeith Stanfield have signed on to the project suggest that Sheridan’s script is also compelling enough to win over discerning professionals.

The F.A.S.T. cast is also a mix of action movie veterans like Jason Clarke, who appeared in Terminator Genisys and White House Down, and those, like Stanfield, less known for their high-octane roles. In that way, the film will offer known quanтιтies in its lead cast as well as enticing and interesting picks.

Our Take On The F.A.S.T. Cast

The most exciting addition to F.A.S.T. may well be actor LaKeith Stanfield despite the impressive past projects of every other cast member currently announced for the project. Stanfield, who established himself through work on avant-garde projects like Atlanta, which often ventured into the surreal, and Sorry to Bother You, is something of an unexpected pick.

Of course, the actor has well-established dramatic chops. Stanfield was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor thanks to his performance as William O’Neal in Judas and the Black Messiah, in what would become the first major nod to his talents.

But the remaining F.A.S.T. cast is a well-rounded group likely to raise expectations about the movie. Even for actors like Sam Claflin and Trevante Rhodes who appeared in respective action films The Hunger Games and The Predator, F.A.S.T. could be an opportunity to show off their skills in a more grounded, yet gripping, tale.

F.A.S.T. is expected to be released April 23, 2027.
