The KPop Demon Hunters Character I’m Most Curious To Learn More About In The Sequel Is Not Who You’d Think

As KPop Demon Hunters continues to dominate Netflix’s charts, speculation about what is coming next for the franchise has grown. While nothing concrete has been announced, reports have surfaced that Sony and Netflix are working on expanding the IP in multiple directions, including KPop Demon Hunters sequels and a live-action remake, just to get things started.

The film’s enormous success made some kind of sequel or continuation inevitable, so it makes sense that Sony and Netflix are moving to green-light more entries in the series as quickly as possible.

While there are plenty of avenues for a Demon Hunters sequel to go down, I think one of the most exciting stories to tell would involve a character who didn’t even receive a name in the film. Rumi, Mira, and Zoey will undoubtedly return as the main characters, but there are plenty of opportunities to give some other individuals time to shine.

Who Is The Third Sunlight Sister Briefly Seen In KPop Demon Hunters?

Sunlight sisters in KPop Demon Hunters

The Sunlight Sisters were the Demon Hunter group before HUNTR/X, made up of Celine, Ryu Mi-Yeong, and a third, unnamed hunter. The movie explained that Mi-Yeong was Rumi’s mother, who died when Rumi was still just a baby, and that Celine acted as HUNTR/X’s main mentor.

But, nothing was revealed about the third member. That’s left a big mystery at the center of the franchise’s past, as the third Sunlight Sister has a history fighting demons like HUNTR/X does, and she has a direct connection to the group through knowing Celine and Mi-Yeong.

Rumi is around 24 years old in KPop Demon Hunters, meaning that the Sunlight sisters would’ve likely disbanded with Mi-Yeong’s death in the early 2000s.

Mi-Yeong and Celine were very important parts of KPop Demon Hunters‘ story, even though the former didn’t appear that much, which makes the third member’s absence more striking. The Sunlight Sisters’ story is already intriguing, and the unnamed pop star/demon hunter shouldn’t be ignored going forward.

Exploring What Happened To The Sunlight Sisters Is Essential For A KPop Demon Hunters Sequel

Based on the information revealed in KPop Demon Hunters, we can pretty easily surmise that Celine was a bit of a stickler for the rules, while Mi-Yeong was more open-minded, evidenced by her having a child with a demon. This difference would have inevitably led to a pretty significant amount of conflict, which could be explored in the sequel.

Rumi’s internal conflict between her nature as a half-demon and a Hunter was the thrust of the first movie, and while she has come to terms with that, there is still plenty to explore. Rumi searching for her father would be a great way to introduce more intrigue to the burgeoning Demon Hunters franchise, and introduce more of the Sunlight Sisters’ past.

The sequel could also position Celine as a full-blown villain, which would necessitate HUNTR/X finding the third Sunlight Sister and finding out exactly what happened to the group. She would be a great way to explore the past of KPop Demon Hunters‘ world, giving HUNTR/X a greater perspective on their roles as Hunters.
