Ice Cube’s War Of The Worlds Is No Longer A 0% RT Movie
Currently the No.2 most popular movie on Prime Video, War of the Worlds arrived on July 30 but opened to a 0% RT score. Revolving around an alien attack that prompted a Homeland Security employee to uncover top secrets and cover-ups, the Rich Lee-directed movie stars Ice Cube as the тιтular cyber-security analyst, Eva Longoria as a NASA scientist, and Clark Gregg as the NSA Director.
Since its release, the movie adaptation of H.G. Wells’ 1989 novel of the same name has received 27 negative reviews from critics, with some naming it the worst movie released in 2025 by far. Viewers took to social media to poke fun at the movie, and it led to the sci-fi movie going viral.
War of the Worlds has finally received a positive review from Entertainment Weekly, which boosted its Rotten Tomatoes score to 4%. Meanwhile, the movie has a 21% audience score from more than 1000 viewers. It’s worth pointing out that EW‘s review mainly serves as a reaction to the overwhelming criticisms the movie received from other publications.
What This Means For War Of The Worlds
Critics have lodged complaints about War of the Worlds‘ quality, plot, and acting. Many even used the movie as an example of what not to do for filmmakers. Despite the overall negative reception, there are few who genuinely enjoyed Ice Cube’s new movie.
In the EW review, Jordan Hoffman admitted that War of the Worlds has flaws, but he also pointed out its ability to deliver a great deal of entertainment. In general, the critic doesn’t believe the movie lives up to its notoriety and instead finds its silliness charming at times. Interestingly, similar sentiments (though rare) can also be observed among viewers.
