The Fantastic Four: First Steps is climbing up a major box office chart. The movie is the 37th installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the interconnected superhero franchise from Marvel Studios, which is now owned by Walt Disney Studios.
2025’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces the тιтular superhero family to the franchise, which includes Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), the Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), the Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and the Human Torch (Joseph Quinn). The movie also stars Julia Garner, Natasha Lyonne, Mark Gatiss, Sarah Niles, Paul Walter Hauser, and Ralph Ineson.
Per The Numbers, The Fantastic Four: First Steps has hit a cumulative global box office total of $382.1 million, comprising $212 million from domestic theaters and $170.1 million from international markets. This total has allowed the movie to climb another spot up the chart of the highest-grossing Disney movies of all time, across their brands.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps has hit No. 93 on the chart by surpᴀssing the $379.7 million gross of 2021’s Black Widow, which was the first solo film for original Avengers character Natasha Romanoff, played by Scarlett Johansson.
What This Means For The Fantastic Four: First Steps
Black Widow marks the fourth of the previous Marvel Cinematic Universe movies that The Fantastic Four: First Steps has outgrossed at the box office, after The Marvels ($199.7 million), The Incredible Hulk ($265.6 million), and Captain America: The First Avenger ($370.6 million). Naturally, this is not an uncommon achievement.
Marvel’s 2021 output suffered from the same pandemic-depressed box office that limited the profits of many blockbuster movies released in that year, which explains why that same year’s Eternals and Shang-Chi are also among the lowest-grossing MCU movies.
In order to surpᴀss a stronger contender than the franchise’s 2021 offerings, the Fantastic Four: First Steps box office would have to take in an additional $67.2 million in order to surpᴀss the $449.3 million earned by 2011’s Thor.
Our Take On The Fantastic Four: First Steps Box Office
One factor that is working in Fantastic Four‘s favor is the fact that, in spite of it stumbling 66% during its sophomore weekend at the domestic box office, it is still projected to earn between $520 and $570 million by the end of its theatrical run. This would be more than enough for it to outgross Thor.
Even if The Fantastic Four: First Steps only hits the lower end of that range and grosses $520 million, it will surpᴀss seven more MCU movies (Thunderbolts*, Eternals, Captain America: Brave New World, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Thor, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and Ant-Man) and climb to No. 68 on the all-time Disney chart.
