Cold Storage Trailer: Liam Neeson’s First Post-Naked Gun Movie Is A Comedy Take On The Last Of Us

The trailer for Liam Neeson’s next movie, Cold Storage, has arrived. Neeson plays Pentagon bioterror operative Robert Quinn in the apocalyptic horror-comedy movie, which follows two self-storage company employees (Stranger Things‘ Joe Keery and Barbarian‘s Georgina Campbell) who accidentally unleash a parasitic fungus upon the world.

While this premise sounds similar to the post-apocalyptic HBO series The Last of Us and the video games it is based on, Cold Storage adapts a 2019 novel by Jurᴀssic Park screenwriter David Koepp. Koepp also wrote the screenplay for the movie, which was directed by Alien Autopsy‘s Jonny Campbell and is set to debut in 2026.

Samuel Goldwyn Films has now unveiled the official trailer for Cold Storage. The trailer begins in an apocalyptic landscape where a team in Hazmat suits discovers horribly desiccated corpses. While this scene is intense, the comedy angle kicks in when the trailer introduces Keery and Campbell’s bumbling characters, Travis and Naomi.

When they accidentally unleash the fungus from cold storage, the chaotic events that unfold include a fungus-infected person’s head exploding and a deer getting on an elevator. Meanwhile, Robert is desperately attempting to keep the situation contained from afar. Check out the trailer below:

What This Means For Cold Storage

While both Cold Storage and The Last of Us both focus on fungus-based apocalypses with heavy zombie apocalypse parallels, the new movie will set itself apart from the HBO series thanks to its much lighter tone.

This trailer showcases the fact that the Stranger Things star in particular is set to deliver a consistent barrage of comic relief that is not present in the much more grim The Last of Us.

The Last of Us stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey.

In addition to giving Keery another project outside the universe of the Netflix series, which is ending with the upcoming season 5, Cold Storage offers Neeson another chance to show off his comic chops. 2025’s The Naked Gun saw the Oscar nominee using his signature intensity to deliver ᴅᴇᴀᴅpan humor, a trend that continues in his next movie.

Our Take On The Cold Storage Trailer

Cold Storage could end up being partially responsible for a new trend for upcoming Liam Neeson movies. The Naked Gun was the potential catalyst, as its $16.8 million domestic debut marked the best opening weekend for a movie starring Neeson in a decade, since 2015’s Taken 3.

It seemed possible that this would lead to a glut of Liam Neeson comedy movies in the same way that his 2008 hit Taken minted him as a modern action star. Cold Storage could mark the first of many movies to harness Neeson’s comic chops in the wake of the comedy reboot, especially if it finds critical or commercial success.
