There will be a lot of pressure on Fast & Furious 11 to end the popular action franchise, which has dominated Hollywood for well over 20 years. Not all the Fast & Furious movies have been loved by critics. In fact, many of them have been heavily criticized for being way too over-the-top and melodramatic.
Despite this, it can’t be denied that it is one of the most beloved franchises in Hollywood. For many years, it seemed like the series might go on forever. However, years after reaching box office heights with 2015’s Furious 7 and 2017’s The Fate of the Furious, now feels like the right time to end the franchise, which is exactly what the upcoming Fast & Furious 11 will do.
After the cliffhanger ending of Fast X, the eleventh movie will see Dom and his crew continue their fight against the villainous Dante. Vin Diesel has finally announced that Fast & Furious 11 will hit theaters in April 2027, which means it will likely begin filming very soon. There are some things that Fast & Furious 11 must do if it wants to end the franchise properly.

Include More Street Racing
The first Fast & Furious movie was actually a grounded film about a group of street racers in Los Angeles. As the franchise grew in popularity, the films received higher budgets and featured more action sequences. In just a few years, Dom and his crew went from being unknown street racers to some of the most wanted criminals in the world.
A common complaint about the recent movies is that the action is way too over-the-top. For example, in F9, Roman and Tej attach a rocket to a car and literally fly to space. Because of this unrealistic sequence and many others, fans have been asking for the Fast & Furious movies to return to the franchise’s street racing roots for years.
Thankfully, it seems like Diesel also wants Fast & Furious 11 to be a more grounded movie about street racing. Appearing at FuelFest in Los Angeles in June 2025, Diesel promised that the movie will include it and go back to the franchise’s roots.

Feature Another Amazing Action Set Piece
It’s great that Fast & Furious 11 will be a more grounded film that features plenty of street races. This can win over fans who may have grown tired of the franchise’s over-the-top action set pieces over the years. However, it wouldn’t be a good idea for Fast & Furious 11 to completely abandon ambitious set pieces.
Even though Diesel wants to honor the franchise’s roots in the final movie, it would be jarring if the tones of the recent films were ignored. Fast X, for example, included plenty of action set pieces. Some of these may be extravagant, but they are also very entertaining, and fans deserve more in Fast & Furious 11.
The final movie in the franchise needs to blend old and new by including both street races and action set pieces. In doing so, fans who prefer the older movies and those who like the newer entries will both be appeased. Furthermore, since Fast X ended on a cliffhanger, Fast & Furious 11 can’t just ignore the tone of the movie that came before it.

Reunite Han & Gisele
Part of Fast X‘s cliffhanger ending was the return of Gisele, who seemingly died at the end of 2013’s Fast & Furious 6. Gisele falling from the plane undoubtedly made for one of the most heartbreaking deaths in the franchise. Not only was she an important member of Dom’s crew, but she was also in a relationship with Han.
At one point in time, it was believed that both Han and Gisele had died. However, now that they are both confirmed to be alive, Fast & Furious 11 needs to reunite them. Ever since Han returned in F9, it’s been clear that he still thinks about Gisele. Therefore, their reunion will be one of the most heartwarming moments in Fast & Furious 11.

Bring Back Important Franchise Characters We Haven’t Seen In A While
Speaking of reunions, Fast & Furious 11 needs to bring back characters that audiences haven’t seen in years. It’s not at all uncommon for characters to make surprise appearances in the Fast & Furious franchise, and the final movie shouldn’t be the one to end this trend.
Firstly, fans desperately want to see Owen Shaw again after he served as the villain in Fast & Furious 6. His brother, Deckard Shaw, has found redemption and become a fan-favorite character, so it would be great to also see Owen working with Dom and his crew as they take on Dante in the final movie.
In addition to Owen Shaw, it would be great to see Mr. Nobody again. In F9, it was revealed that Mr. Nobody died in a plane crash, but fans never really bought this. Since his daughter was an important character in Fast X, it would make sense for him to finally return.
Finally, it would also be great to see characters like Sean and Twinkie, who were major characters in The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift and last appeared in F9.
4
Have Dante Become An Even More Evil Villain
In Fast X, Jason Momoa’s Dante Reyes emerged as a major villain seeking revenge against Dom and his crew after they caused the death of his father in Fast Five. Unlike most other movies in the franchise, Fast X ended on a major cliffhanger, which means that Dante will once again act as the primary antagonist in the sequel.
This is a good thing, since he is one of the best Fast & Furious villains. Based on the events of Fast X, Dante will stop at nothing to bring down Dom and everyone he is ᴀssociated with. This even includes Dom’s son, who Dante temporarily kidnapped in Fast X.
However, the Fast & Furious franchise has a bad habit of turning villains good. Sometimes, this works out, like it did with Deckard Shaw, but it would be annoying if Fast & Furious 11 repeats this character trope. Instead, Dante should remain truly evil throughout the entirety of the final movie.

Show Hobbs Working With Dom & The Rest Of The Crew
If several characters are going to team up in Fast & Furious 11, then Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs definitely needs to be part of this group. The ending of Fast X featured Hobbs receiving a threatening phone call from Dante, suggesting that he is going to be a major character in Fast & Furious 11 after sitting the last two movies out.
This makes perfect sense, since Hobbs is actually the one who sH๏τ and killed Dante’s father in Fast Five. From Fast Five to The Fate of the Furious, Hobbs emerged as one of the most important characters in the franchise, and it would be great to see him as a main character in Fast & Furious 11.
Many fans may leave the theater underwhelmed if Johnson only has a minor role. Hobbs has a great dynamic with Dom and his crew, and definitely deserves a lot of time in the spotlight. Fast & Furious 11 will need to juggle a lot of characters, but it should be a priority to give Hobbs enough screen time.
2
Have Brian O’Conner Honor Paul Walker’s Legacy
Diesel has also confirmed that Fast & Furious 11 will feature Brian O’Conner. Alongside Dom, Brian was the main character in the first seven Fast & Furious movies and was portrayed by Paul Walker. Unfortunately, Walker pᴀssed away in a car crash in 2013.
Because of Walker’s death, Furious 7 wrote Brian out of the franchise. However, instead of dying in the seventh entry, Brian drove off into the sunset and got the chance to live a peaceful life with his family. Because of that, it makes sense for Brian to return to help Dom and the rest of the crew in Fast & Furious 11.
It’s not clear exactly how Brian will return in Fast & Furious 11. More than likely, Walker’s brothers will act as stand-ins and deepfake technology will be utilized. No matter what techniques are used, hopefully the movie honors Walker’s legacy, as it would be very disappointing if Brian’s role in the film isn’t received well by fans.

Give Dom & His Family A Great Sendoff
Overall, Fast & Furious 11 needs to give Dom and his family a great sendoff. Without a doubt, the franchise has gone on for so long because people love the characters. Unfortunately, it’s inevitable that some characters will die in Fast & Furious 11. There’s even a chance that Dom will die.
However, regardless of how the franchise wraps up, hopefully all the characters are treated with respect. The fans deserve satisfying endings for Dom, Letty, Brian, and all the other characters. Some of the decisions made for Fast & Furious 11 are bound to upset fans, but hopefully most will view it as a great sendoff for an iconic group of characters.
