James Gunn addresses new Teen тιтans movie rumors as the DC Universe movie remains in development at DC Studios. Following the release of the DCU’s Superman movie, Chapter 1: “Gods and Monsters” is just getting started, as more live-action films and TV shows, as well as animated projects, are currently at different stages of development.

One of the big team-up projects that DC Studios is working on is the DCU’s Teen тιтans movie, as the iconic team could be getting their live-action cinematic debut at last. With the team having had various line-ups in the comics, many are wondering what the DCU’s line-up of the Teen тιтans will look like in the potential movie.

Gunn was recently asked by a fan on Threads (via @DCFilmNews after the post was deleted) if “is it true that the teen тιтans movie will consist of the 2003 roster, but with Damian Wayne as robin?” It didn’t take long for Gunn to address the latest Teen тιтans movie rumor, as he shared the following:

Gunn stressed that, “Anything you’ve heard about that movie is made up or a guess. No one in the world knows anything about the concept for the story except four people.” The 2003 roster is a reference to the popular Teen тιтans animated TV show, which ran for five seasons.

While there are many different line-ups they could go with for the DCU’s Teen тιтans movie, it’s key to remember that the script is far from done. Even though Ana Nogueira is attached as the screenwriter, she is actually working on the Wonder Woman film for DC Studios as the main priority over the Teen тιтans movie script.

If the Teen тιтans screenplay isn’t even finished, any rumors about rosters for the film should not be believed, especially after Gunn’s latest comments. Outside of Gunn and Nogueira, the other two people who would likely know anything about the Teen тιтans story are DC Studios co-CEO Peter Safran and, potentially, Warner Bros. Discovery’s David Zaslav.

Hearing Gunn be candid about DCU reports that are spreading a false narrative is always appreciated, especially for a mᴀssive project like Teen тιтans. Given that the DCU timeline is focusing on a lot of established characters, the Teen тιтans line-up could go in many different directions.

Time will tell what roster of characters will be in the Teen тιтans movie, given how many iterations there have been of the team in the DC canon. Hopefully, before 2025 is over, there will ideally be more progress on the Teen тιтans project for DC Studios.
