Michael B. Jordan first broke out on television with his role as Wallace in the inaugural season of HBO’s highly acclaimed drama, The Wire (2002). He subsequently appeared as a series regular on the ABC soap opera All My Children (2003–2006) and later delivered a standout performance in the NBC sports drama Friday Night Lights (2009–2011).
In the past decade, Jordan has become best known for his collaborations with writer-director Ryan Coogler – including Fruitvale Station (2013), Creed (2015), Black Panther (2018), Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022), and Sinners (2025) – all of which earned him critical acclaim. He returned to his тιтular role in Creed II (2018) and Creed III (2023), the latter marking his directorial debut.
Jordan’s broader filmography also includes roles in Chronicle (2012), That Awkward Moment (2014), Fantastic Four (2015), and Just Mercy (2019), in which he played civil rights lawyer Bryan Stevenson. However, it’s Jordan’s dystopian movie, adapted from an acclaimed book, that is seeing a resurgence on streaming, seven years after its initial release.
Michael B. Jordan’s Fahrenheit 451 Is Resurging On Streaming
It Was Released 7 Years Ago
Fahrenheit 451 is seeing a resurgence on streaming seven years later. Directed by Ramin Bahrani, who co-wrote the script with Amir Naderi based on the classic dystopian novel by Ray Bradbury, the 2018 adaptation stars Michael B. Jordan as Guy Montag, a “fireman” tasked with burning outlawed books who begins to question the practice after encountering a young woman.
In addition to Jordan in the lead role, the cast also includes two-time Oscar nominee Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road, Nocturnal Animals), Sofia Boutella, Khandi Alexander, Lilly Singh, Martin Donovan, Andy McQueen, Dylan Taylor, Grace Lynn Kung, Keir Dullea, and Cindy Katz.
Now, seven years after its initial release, Jordan’s dystopian drama is resurging on streaming. Fahrenheit 451 ranks 10th on HBO Max’s Top 10 movies today, finishing behind A Minecraft Movie (Block Party Edition), I Love You Forever, The Meg, The Great Wall, Black Mako of the Abyss, and more.
What Fahrenheit 451’s Streaming Resurgence Means For The Movie
Why Is It Seeing A Resurgence Now?
It’s unclear why Fahrenheit 451 is seeing a resurgence seven years after its initial release. It was sent straight to HBO in 2018 and received mostly negative reviews, resulting in 31% and 22% scores on Rotten Tomatoes, with many criticizing its lack of faithfulness to its classic source material.
Perhaps audiences are revisiting it simply out of a desire to see more Michael B. Jordan after Sinners…
Perhaps audiences are revisiting it simply out of a desire to see more Michael B. Jordan after Sinners, as his performance in Fahrenheit 451 did receive some praise. Another explanation may lie in the current political climate, as people could be identifying with the story of Guy Montag, a “fireman” who becomes disillusioned with his role in destroying knowledge and begins to rebel against society.
