George Lucas confirms that special Star Wars and Marvel pieces will be on display at his new museum. Over the weekend, George Lucas attended San Diego Comic Con 2025, marking his first appearance at the fan-favorite event. The panel was hosted by the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, teasing a “sneak peek” of the museum alongside Guillermo del Toro and Doug Chiang.
In the panel at SDCC’s Hall H, which Screen Rant attended, Lucas began by talking about his idea for the museum, stating, “This is a temple to the people’s art.” In a special video, Lucas then revealed a preview of what guests can expect when visiting the museum, and it included some pretty special pieces from Star Wars and Marvel.
On the Star Wars side of things, guests can expect various concept art from across Star Wars movies as well as film posters. However, props, including pod racers and ships, like Luke’s Landspeeder from A New Hope, Anakin’s Starfighter from The Phantom Menace, and the Speeder Bikes from Return of the Jedi, will also be available for guests to view.
For fans of Marvel, there will be plenty of original sketches of Black Panther and other characters on display at the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, including original drawings from 1968. Guests will also be treated to other sketches from works like Flash Gordon and Peanuts, as well as various art by comic legends like Jack Kirby, and artists like Norman Rockwell and Frida Kahlo.
What This Means For Fans Of Marvel & Star Wars
The Lucas Museum Helps Showcase The Legacy Of Franchises
Lucas’ announcement is rather exciting for fans of Marvel and Star Wars, as it means there will be a centralized collection for all the franchises’ memorabilia. The museum will offer fans a deeper look at the creative process and the vision behind their favorite Marvel and Star Wars characters, giving guests a unique glimpse at their history.
Speaking about the inclusion of movie franchise props and art among the more traditional artworks, Lucas stated that “it’s more about a connection, an emotional connection, with the work. Not with the cost or the celebrity did it. It’s the emotional connection. No one can tell you it’s not art. If you have the emotional connection, then it’s art.“
