Warning! This article contains spoilers for The Fantastic Four: First Steps.Marvel deleted a scene from The Fantastic Four: First Steps where Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm reveals her most lethal superpower. The Fantastic Four’s MCU debut puts more focus on Sue Storm than all five previous Fantastic Four movies. Instead of Reed Richards’ romantic partner, Vanessa Kirby’s Invisible Woman is the heart of The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
Sue Storm’s biggest feat of power comes during The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ final battle. The true extent of the Invisible Woman’s abilities is shown when Sue Storm singlehandedly leaves Galactus on the edge of a portal. However, Sue’s ᴅᴇᴀᴅliest ability doesn’t rely on size or intensity, but on strategy.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps Does The Invisible Woman’s Power Justice
Sue Storm’s Powers Aren’t Limited To Defensive Moves
Sue Storm possesses the ability to turn herself invisible and cast force fields. Her superpowers are defensive by definition, but Sue has always found creative ways to use her powers. After Fox’s Fantastic Four movies overlooked her abilities, The Fantastic Four: First Steps shows just how easily Sue Storm can change the course of a battle.
According to Marvel lore, Sue Storm is able to create mᴀssive and nearly indestructible force fields capable of withstanding cosmic-level attacks. Sue has even rivaled Omega-level mutants and overpowered foes like Ultron and the Hulk. In the MCU, the Invisible Woman’s power reaches its peak pushing Galactus across multiple city blocks, all by herself.
Sue Storm’s Most Dangerous Superpower Was Cut From The Fantastic Four: First Steps
Vanessa Kirby Revealed Sue Storm Is Capable Of One-SH๏τting Her Enemies
In an interview with Variety, Vanessa Kirby mentioned that one deleted scene from The Fantastic Four: First Steps featured Sue Storm threatening the Mole Man. According to Kirby, Sue told Harvey Elder “I could give you an aneurysm if I wanted to in two seconds.” Kirby underlined that the Invisible Woman “could put an air bubble inside” her enemies effortlessly.
In theory, Sue Storm can murder most people with the flick of her fingers
Besides her traditional round force fields, the Invisible Woman can create invisible constructs sharp enough to cut through steel or precise enough to constrict internal organs. Sue can also create tiny force fields remotely, which can do some serious damage to her enemies’ bodies if placed in the correct place. In theory, Sue Storm can murder most people with the flick of her fingers.
Sue Storm’s Most Lethal Superpower May Be Reserved For A Future Sequel
The Invisible Woman’s Aneurysm Power Is Too Overpowered For Her MCU Debut
The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ Sue Storm deleted scene would have highlighted how dangerous she can be. However, introducing Sue’s instant-murder ability would have put too much pressure on her. After she drops that comment, audiences could grow too attached to the idea of Vanessa Kirby’s Invisible Woman killing the Fantastic Four’s enemies instantly.
In the same interview, Kirby voiced her interest in exploring Sue Storm’s darker side as Malice. In the MCU, Sue may only realize she can kill anyone using a small force field once she adopts her Malice persona. Otherwise, future appearances and sequels to The Fantastic Four: First Steps would have to come up with specific reasons why Sue doesn’t use her best superpower.
