Chris Evans & Star Wars Rumors Mean One Fantastic Team-Up Could Actually Happen

Rumors of Chris Evans potentially joining the Star Wars galaxy could lead to an epic actor team-up in the galaxy far, far away. Currently, Lucasfilm is preparing for a major return to the big screen, beginning with The Mandalorian & Grogu in 2026. However, there are plenty of other movies in development as well, and one in particular could be very exciting for Evans.

For some time, Chris Evans has voiced interest in joining the Star Wars galaxy, having joked he’d be game to play anyone from a stormtrooper to a Wookiee. Now, rumors have begun to spark online, suggesting the time may have finally come. If true, there’s one upcoming Star Wars movie that would be perfect for Chris Evans, as it would lead to a fantastic reunion.

Chris Evans & Ryan Gosling Would Make The Perfect Team

Either As Friends or Foes In Star Wars: Starfighter

Currently, the next Star Wars movie with a confirmed release date after The Mandalorian & Grogu is Star Wars: Starfighter in 2027. While we don’t know much about the upcoming movie set five years after The Rise of Skywalker, we know it will be directed by ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine’s Shawn Levy with Ryan Gosling as the lead and Mia Goth as an antagonist.

To that end, it could be very exciting to see Chris Evans and Gosling reunite on-screen following the Russo Brothers’ The Gray Man in 2022. In the action-thriller, Gosling was a CIA agent on the run from Evans’ sociopathic ex-CIA mercenary. Even as rivals, the duo had some pretty entertaining chemistry that could be very fun to see in Starfighter, especially if they were pilots pitted against each other.

Conversely, Chris Evans as Ryan Gosling’s wingman would be just as exciting, too. However, it’s worth noting that there have also been rumors suggesting Starfighter will have a second villain beyond Goth. Perhaps the role might belong to Evans.

Naturally, this is currently just some fun conjecture about what the future may hold for Chris Evans when it comes to Star Wars.

While time will tell if these new rumors are proven correct, we probably won’t have to wait very long. After all, we know that filming for Star Wars: Starfighter is set to begin in the fall of this year, so more concrete news (like casting) should be on the near horizon. Here’s hoping there’s a role for Evans.

Star Wars: Starfighter is set to release on May 28th, 2027.
