Cameron Boyce’s Tribute In Happy Gilmore 2 Gets An Emotional Response From The Star’s Mother

Cameron Boyce’s mother reacts to the late star’s tribute in Happy Gilmore 2. Boyce was a former child actor who acted in his first feature film in 2008, for the horror movie Mirrors. He later became better known for his work on Disney Channel through the show Jessie and the Descendants movies.

In terms of theatrical releases, one of Boyce’s other early roles was playing Keithie Feder in Grown Ups. He then reprized his role several years later in Grown Ups 2. Boyce’s life was tragically cut short in 2019, when he died of an epilepsy-related seizure at the age of 20.

Taking to Instagram, Boyce’s mother, Libby Boyce, shares her heartfelt reaction to Boyce’s recent tribute in Happy Gilmore 2. The late star’s mother talked about the companionship that Sandler and Boyce shared during the latter’s tragically short life. She wrote, they had a bond I think related to being authentic.”

What This Means For Happy Gilmore 2

The Boyce Tribute Is Very Subtle

Boyce’s Happy Gilmore 2 tribute comes in a very subtle way in the film. In one scene, Happy is golfing again after deciding to make his golf comeback. In a brief sH๏τ, the golf course employees are witnessed watching Boyce’s series, Jessie, from their hut.

While he was known for other works including his two Grown Ups movies with Sandler, Jessie was one of Boyce’s most memorable roles. He played Luke Ross in the series, appearing in all the four-season show’s 98 episodes.

The reference to Boyce may have been small in Happy Gilmore 2, but the response from the actor’s mother proves that it made an emotional impact. Even if the scene itself was brief, it shows how Sandler is still thinking of Boyce, and looking for ways to honor him, which is indicative of their close bond.

Our Take On The Happy Gilmore 2 Tribute

Sandler’s Bond With Boyce Is Genuine

From Sandler’s comments on the Cameron Boyce foundation red carpet, it is clear that he really cared about the late child star. Sandler referred to Boyce as “one of the nicest kids I ever met, funniest kids I ever met.” As much as Sandler works to keep Boyce’s memory alive, Boyce too made an indelible impact on the Happy Gilmore 2 actor.
